Started this one back at the beginning of June. Oddly enough, this was the last render I was working on before I temporarily lost my eyesight. I only needed to bake the final render, and do some quick postwork in Gimp.
Just taking a short break from responding to comments and notes after being gone for so long. I'm going thru some serious Fern withdrawal, but wanted to finish this one first. So get ready for some Fast & Furious Fern coming up next!
But for now... back to the comments and notes. 
Kanan's earpiece modeled and textured by me (hardly worth mentioning, but I know some would probably ask).

I so wanted to see this at the end of season 2! yet it seemed like such a private and sad moment. What do you say to each other in a moment like that?Β

Yeah, me too. I don't think there are any words for a situation like that. Although the awkward "friendly" hug that Hera gave Kanan was sort of lacking in my opinion. He just lost his sight, and could have just as easily lost his life. I would have expected a more intimate embrace, maybe followed by a kiss, or Hera crying, or something like that. We all know they love each other. But unfortunately, I think that's outside the show's Y7 rating for 7 yr olds (no romantic behaviour). I wish Rebels would have used the same rating as CW, but that was before Disney owned Star Wars. They tend to make TV shows with less depth (due to their younger audiences I suppose). Despite that shortcoming, it's still a great show, with very interesting characters that inspire a lot of my artwork.

I hadn't thoughtΒ aboutΒ it before and its impact on the way a story is told. Thank you for making me think. After "Rouge One" we knowΒ Disney isΒ super capable of making an in depth Star Wars story. So they could make the show more in depth if they wanted to. It has to be or the younger viewers. I agree,Β I still love this show! No problem! I'm hoping that at some point rebels will get put on Netflix. I wouldn't mind watching past seasons again either. I'm excited about the upcoming episodes too, in addition to seeing Obiwan. Can't wait!

and at the end, it explicitly says that Hera knows Kanan is utterly smitten with her. so idk if Disney wants to protect the wittle children who watch Rebels, or just forgot, or is trolling us because Darth--whoops, I mean Dave---Filoni said so.

Well, in Clone Wars, Lux literally tried to eat Ahsoka's face in this super awkward kiss when Pre Vizsla walked in. And don't forget all the times Anakin and Padme made out in deserted places. That was considered a kid's show.

I know right! And you bring up a good point there. Clone wars was actually rated TV-PG, and was shown in Cartoon network. Once Disney purchased SW, they canceled CW, and started up Rebels. They aired it on Disney XD, and gave it a TV-Y7 rating so it wouldn't require parental guidance (no sexual related anything). Here's the rating guide if your curious: www.tvguidelines.org/ratings.h⦠.

weird. I wasn't even a teenager yet when I started watching them, and my parents would be all like, "Ok here. Take the remote, and if you see anything that involves kissing or death, fast-forward the recording."

This really is fantastic. I love the depth to this scene and the attention to detail in the character design. I'm so very impressed in how well you've constructed these two.Β

I remember way back when CW was in its infancy, it was very simple in terms of the storyline, and the characters still weren't very well established yet. It wasn't until the 4th or 5th season that things started to really pick up. It gradually got darker, and the characters really began to gain some serious depth imo.
Rebels is still in the beginning stages I think. I'm hoping they follow that same 'map' they used for CW. Hopefully they will turn it around in the right direction. Hey, at least it finally has a Twi'lek as a main role. How long have we been waiting for that?
