Description
Here's the second part! ^^Β This time I tried to come up with a concept for a fully enclosed helmet, and a "muzzle-guard" to protect the face. I hope you can understand my handwriting this time as well.Again, if you have any feedback or alternative ideas be sure to write them in the comments! I'll try to reply as soon as I can.
Check out the first part, and this other work on helmets .

Thank you a bunch!
It's between the two periods, gunpowder starts to be used right during the time of my setting. The cats who made this helmets didn't use firearms though, those were later introduced by humans.
That's a nice suggestion, but maybe a bit tooΒ modern for my taste!

My only concern is that the elongated point might back the helmet easier to knock off without being secured by more than the string under the neck. Also potentional for choking if the helm is pushed backwards. Perhaps some padding, a wider strap to secure it, or a gorget might help. Still, definitely an improvement, and the mask is really cool.

Yeah, I also thought about it! Maybe some padding can make the fit tighter? The mask would also help, together with what you suggested. Thanks for the feedback!

Iβm sorry to bother you but Iβm having trouble designing modernized helmets for cat creatures. Like instead of steel itβs a Kevlar style of material and Iβm unsure how to get around the ears without presenting a rather revealing shape.

I'm afraid I can't be much of help. I don't know enough about modern helmets, the materials that are used, or which shapes are ideal to deflect hits. Β My area of expertise ends after the 17th century.

MisterLuK In reply to ??? [2018-02-04 22:16:13 +0000 UTC]
Well, if you looking for how shape deflects the hits, that's pretty simple : take a vertical armor of 2mm of metal. That's our degree 0. If something hits it horizontally, it will not change anything. Now, incline that armor to 60Β° from our 0, and then, when the hit is horizontal, the effective armor increases because of the angle. An angle of 60Β° doubles the thickness of the armor. So now, our armor is not 2mm, but 4mm of metal. (Hope you understood something to my waaaaayyyy too complicated explanation).

haha I got it, but I'm too lazy to verthink the issue too much!
π: 0 β©: 1
MisterLuK In reply to 0laffson [2018-02-14 21:53:04 +0000 UTC]
That's how a vehicle with only 10cm of armor can turns on 50cm of effective armor : angle.
Anyways, that's quite too "advanced" for those iron-age guys XD.

Good design here.
The head can be lowered using the top for a good pummel.
Ears are well protected.
The muzzle guard effect and intimidating.
Few protruding pieces on the helmet make it less likely to be pushed about.
The feathers can serve as an indication of rank or station.
