Description
I decided to go back and use the "digital cheats" on this old drawing, it definitely looks better now! The old version can be found HERE ._____________________________________
This is the last drawing I have for now!
Anyways, this is a concept for a warrior of my fantasy feline race. They usually live in forests, some of them have no idea what clothes or metals are, while others have actually a more advanced society. The few tribes that live outside the forests, like this guy above, came often in contacts with humans or other races and adopted many of their costumes, so they live in villages, wear fancy jewels and clothes, wear armours and so on.
The outfit is (very) loosely based on some old photos I found of Ethiopian warriors.Β The sword is also an Ethiopian sickle sword called Shotel. Unlike many other sickle sword it's double edged, and can be used either as a sabre or a falx.
Hope you like it!

Awesome I luv African weaponry; it's always so strange yet awesome
I especially like the shotel, such a strange concept for a weapon XD But I wonder how effective it was. Don't see too many African weapons in media, mainly European and Asian.

Thank you! Β Me too, they are incredibly unusual and pretty much ignored, everyone cares only about darn katanas! XD
I think it was pretty effective, it could be used as a sabre with strong cutting power or as an "hook" to move away the enemy shields or weapons. Considering armours there, as far as I know, where lighter than European one, it should work fine!

*Is terribly sorry for how late this reply is*
Iknowrite!? It's almost like a cult to worship the katana and samurai and heraldΒ them as the best there ever was XD They're pretty and effective, but other swords were just as pretty and/or effective.
I'd personally luv to see people try to revive the swordman style used for weapons like the khopesh, shotel, and others if it's possible Or even things like claymores and such, as the thoughtlessΒ clang bang bam!! you see in movies, shows, games, and even RP is anything but how people fought with those weapons
Well, anyone who knew what they were doing at least. I wonder if they have any videos demonstrating the effectiveness of the shotel, I've seen one for the khopesh before.

You always draw so many interesting weapons.
May I know where are you finding them?
I plan to start a comic and I would like to know where I can learn about such interesting weapon designs.
And this guy here looks badass as hell. Β
Great job.

Thanks! Β I like unusual and not "mainstream" weapons!
I usually just find them randomly, or just write "Ancient (location) swords", there are tons of results. ^^
If you are interested I'd suggest to give a look to this site, though www.vikingsword.com/ethsword/i⦠It's a site for collectors, and the forums provide useful information and references.
Thank you so much!

Ooooh I really like the outfit! I might look up some Ethiopian designs myself and use them for my anthro race.

Thank you a lot mate! Β African costumes and weaponry were (and are) pretty amazing. I don't know why everyone only thinks about a spear and a loincloth most of the times!

Hello:
Β This feline reminds me a lot of the one with "8 facts about Enorach" .
Β I can understand how the contact will reshape the society of the felines living further away from the deep forests, similar things have happened (and still happens) in our real-world, so it is interesting to see how you work with that concept too .

Now that you mention it....
Exactly, when in contact with other civilizations there's always the chance to learn from them.

Β Β .
Β More like an exchange, if the other culture will get something useful aswell, although that doesn't always happen . But I do think this surely gave you a nice starting point to start development
.

How often do the feline creatures use their claws?
Say, what's the name of their race, by the way? Β
π: 0 β©: 1
0laffson In reply to JackofAllAss [2016-05-14 15:12:39 +0000 UTC]
Well, in a fight they don't use them often, since they prefer using actual weapons. They can still be useful, though.
They call themselves "Herimash", it means something like "Elder people" in their tongue.Β Humans find it extremely hard to pronounce so they are commonly called "Wild Ones".
