Description
The path (mockup): a new approach to Android's security lock.Description:
Hello, this is my approach to the lock/unlock utility found in Android OS, basically you start by selecting a new shape or draw one, then you select the path you take within that shape, for instance, someone would choose to go right-down, another would choose right-down-left...
Anyways, it's just an idea, it needs more work, and more variations(i.e. the ability to select the width for more choices and improved security, because this shapes are easy to crack
I need now to work on developing the idea, unless someone with spare time wants to develop this app, I think it will stay just a picture.
Tools:
This mockup was made on Ubuntu Linux, using Inkscape.
the globe and the light bulb icons are from here [link]

After going though the ideas document on the Rubberhose code repo, this might prove useful in a situation where you might be coerced into unlocking the phone. Since this requires you to perform a more cogitively complex action then entering a code or drawing a pattern but requires you to draw a path though a maze to unlock, being under heavy levels of stress would make it difficult to draw the correct path. But I don't actually know.

One thing though, remove the download more option. Hackers could create modded path codes to act as a backdoor.

Try introducing this idea on a few android dev boards, sourceforge, github and such. I am sure someone somewhere would jump on this idea. Perhaps a root app?

Yeah, I always promise of updating this and forget. I'm currently a little bit distracted but I'll do that in the near future. And I shall consider you suggestion regarding the security. Thanks.

Hey!
I love this idea. It's elegant.
If you can somehow make it a bit harder to crack (there's only 3 choices right now), I'd be glad to start developing this with you!

I like very much your idea, it's seems to be a great enigmatic lock screen.
PS. I'm currently working on my first app, the next month I hope that this app will be available, and then if you want I can help you to develop this great Idea .

I was thinking about Google, but xdadev. seems fine, the problem is I'm busy currently, and I don't remember my credentials there.
If you feel like doing it, just link back to this page, thank you very much.

Hmm. I found this quite good idea. Btw I wouldn't bother with improved security. It's just for locking the phone, e.g. your friends wouldn't bother finding the right way when they fails for the third time. And even if you want to protect your phone you use a password or just turn it off, so it would ask for PIN code.
But one more time, nice idea. Is it available to download somewhere? Or anything similar?

Thank you, yes you're right, the security isn't a huge problem for a small locking app, but it is less complex than the default app that comes with Android, it might be a good thing, but I don't know. As for the availability, for now it is just a mock-up, I still hadn't have the chance to beautify it and send it to some Android site, maybe someone will make it eventually.
