Your level of detail is epic, and it's not overlydone either. Hehe... and I see what you did there with those leg joints

lol remember that conversation we had about figuring out how to properly make the legs bend at the hip while still making it look right? X)

You took ur Soundwave apart??
lol we were talking about how the way the TF's are drawn with hip joints that wouldn't actually be able to move correctly if they were to be translated into 3D models X) and how usually artists kinda cheat to make it work

i remember that conversation now i think that was in the comments of one of your drawings . a day or three ago i wrote a long note to a friend here on DA about how the insides of those leg parts work (and what i did to resolve some of the movement problems) because he's going to make a 3D model of Soundwave too . it's the same guy to made a Metroplex too . so i was a bit confused between those conversations and what you and i may have spoken of regarding that area . i wasn't sure if i had ever told you that i took him apart or if we had talked about the notched springs and internal pieces behind the control buttons . i didn't think i had ever mentioned that to you , but you know how much we type lol . oi . end of year is always sooo busy for me . so much work to be done and everyone wants to take bits of time off so i cover as much as i can so they can be happy and all of that . i've only had the spare time to model 2.5 simple things since Soundwave
but there are parties this weekend that i hope will be fun
i hope you have happy days !!

haha we do indeed have a way of leaving each other massive comments I can't believe you took your Soundwave apart! lol have you put him back together? I just finished my school finals and projects, and I have just been dead during my winter break thus far
; but it's been lovely X) hope you had fun at those parties and a merry Christmas! And Happy New Year if I don't talk to ya before then! ^_^

ya he's together again and i fixed his door too . there are 3 springs inside his chest . one of them is difficult to deal with and i would not recommend disassembling him
when will you know your final scores ? thank you
i hope you had a wonderful time too . i've been on vacation for a few days . i'm not completely back yet . oi . i've been on an island in a different time zone enjoying intense heat and great conversations . why did i leave that !?!!
i must find a good party this weekend to celebrate life !!

Oh good XD I would be too scared to take a G1 apart D8 or any tf for that matter X)
hmm I could probably find out my scores right now if I wasn't too lazy to just look it up online but I kinda like getting the report cards in the mail too.
haha sounds like you've been having a lovely, fun time! Hope ya find a good party too! X)

That's like, a lot of detail.
Great job!
I'm not sure about how the bottom of the feet seems to be completely phong-shaded, while from the side it seems to have structure/edges.
That's not important anyway, it's awesome already.

it only does that to confuse you seriously though it's because that's fixed camera , not a perspective

i've been using a front or top view for my character sheets and have noticed a few strage things when it forces the camera to be flat across the entire image . it's weird some times . i think it may have something to do with where the lights are placed but i'm not certain

Is it possible to place it right at the y-axis using a target tag to a null object at the origin? I had problems with that, the focal length was way too disorted in my attempts.
I'm not too sure either.

you can place a camera object anywhere by just using it's coords . no need for a null to move it . i think if it's set to Perspective , you're going to have some curvature on the lens , but i haven't ever spent the time to really learn all of the camera object settings yet . you may be able to alter that

100SeedlessPenguins In reply to badnugly [2010-12-16 07:34:32 +0000 UTC]
cool you won't have any major problems with making him transformable if you start with the radio mode instead of the robot
i made the center first . then made one leg and then one arm to fit . oh , the joints will be .. fun
for the knees i just made cuts under the thigh object so when they are bent you can see some detail between the pieces . one limitation of this design is in bending the legs backwards . the toy's legs do not allow for backwards rotation so you would have to make an extra cut on the back or invent a new hip . i went with the original design and the breakdancing image was difficult to do for me . wish i would've just put some kind of ball joint there instead of a pin

Excellent own details on Soundwave with the nice exception keeping his toy design. Love additions to his side sub woofer legs! I dig all the other new designs you've added to Soundwave. It's got your style there. Great work Onica!

Your welcome Onica, it brought my attention straight away knowing it was you who did it. I did not know that at all! you made another terrible cool creation! That is brilliant. This character sheet is a good example for your interesting Soundwave contest.
