Description
Hair study-Andy RoggenbuckPencil on board 36β x 25β
This was a real study in hair, beard hair vs. the blond hair against a dark background was a real challenge I was drawn to the model -Andy has a Northern Renaissance look almost of a young Albrecht Durer the pose heightens this, I think.
thanks for looking...../\\\
Edit....i darkened the background on the modes left (picture right) on the suggestion of Mike (Shelfcloud) it pushes it back and works better, gives it a more realistic space, thanks Mike!

Agree. Some subjects provide a great learning curve in texture and tonal range. Always good to shake it up and learn more. Light hair on Dark background isn't kind in this style!!Β

I like how you've done the strands of hair across the face, with the skin and hair being a similar tone i'd of found it hard to define them accurately rather than just make the hair darker. Great work as usual .

if you call it a hair study I'm really amazed what a great model you found
not only the hair and beard - but also eyebrows and eyelashes - all are with a different texture - and that makes it so sooooo realistic
love the way you showed the shape of the face even covered with beard
stunning work

no, crowns in general arent made of fabric, if it was it might go over your eyes and you might use it as a excuse not to draw -cant have that
as jumper king you may be entitled to a throne of some sort

amazing work...the hair and beard are outstanding, but the eyes are still what stand out for me...beautiful and expressive. i also love the texture you get when drawing skin.

no none of those, they all have draw backs the best way i found is to draw around the white strands but its time consuming as all hell....thx

Ahh...Albrecht Durer, until a couple of weeks ago, I wouldnt have known who he was.
I watch an arts program, which featured him and his life. Truly an extraordinary man.
As you mentioned it, I knew you were talking about his self portrait.
The gold locks and pose are very similar.
Another excellent piece, well done my friend.
