amazing work, but I too have to wonder why a pencil drawing has camera specs.

The scanner must've been too small to scan the whole image so he/she might have taken a digital photo of it

I may never have seen this.

Great pencilwork.

Simply amazing. I don't understand why photo realism isn't really taught in schools any more... I think it's one of the most impressive types of art that exists.

Guys it's a photo just blow up an area that is busy and you will find out. I think it's the fact that the teacher helped him to draw. As a photo it's still very good. As for a person who does very good real life drawings cehck out [link] Blindscarecrow he's damn good.

ok, maybe was a bit harsh there... but it is easy to see that it IS a pencil drawing... blow it up and see for yourself... it is just a rreally good drawing not a photo...
have a nice day..

Also did you ever thing that by my saying it's a photo that I was giving the drawing the highest complment possible.

I did blow it up that's why I came to that conclusion. I use to do Photography and printing. My husband is a printer. There are certain things you know when doing camera work. The drawing flagged all those points I have learn over the years. Also there are small things you look for like skin flakes, dirt in the corners of the skin, crumbs on a man's beard, under skin blemishes that show up when blown up, you know those things people don't fix when they are having a photo taken.

Based on that I could not believe it was a drawing. If I knew the size of it that would help. I did look at the other drawings using the above points and yes those are drawings and damn good ones.

I'm learning now at the age of 43. I have questions to improve myself. I have doubts. And I have seen people over the years try to pull the wool over people's eyes. So please understand your going to get people who just have to question and you need to convince.

you must be really f**king stupid. its not a photo. you can f**king tell. yes its realistic enough to look almost like a photo, but if you are not stupid and know what to look for, you can quite easily see its just a REALLY GOOOOOD pencil drawing!

anyway i think you should shut up... big time.

"Guys it's a photo just blow up an area that is busy and you will find out. I think it's the fact that the teacher helped him to draw. "

how can one second it be a PHOTO, THEN you go on about how
his teacher helped him to DRAW it! make up your mind!
Is it a photo or a drawing? dumb-ass.

I had a look at that link. yeah its a good drawing, but this one woops its ass 100 times over.

There is no reason to cuss at me. If it's a drawing why is there no paper grain? If it's a drawing then it's must be almost life size. What paper are you using? How big is the drawing. I'm sorry but for what I could tell it from my looking at it blown up all the tell tale marks of a photo. Why is the full info for a photo? I coudl tell your other drawings are just that but this one had items in it that have the marks of a photo. The lack of a grain to the paper. What paper did you use.

If it's a drawing fine it's great.

I never said my stuff was anywhere near yours. Hell, it's developed since I fell and hit my head on the sidewalk a month ago it's not like I could could produce the Mona Lisa in all that time. For a talent that has suddenly showed up it's damn good.

As for your reply hell your going to get people who don't believe it. The correct responce to that is telling them somthing like:

Nope, it's really a drawing and I'll tell you how I did it....

Not: you must be really f**king stupid. its not a photo. you can f**king tell.

Aparently your social skills are lacking. No I can't tell from what I could tell it had the marks of being a photo. So get your act together and learn to respond correction to coments.

Now having finished that let's restart:

Ok it's a drawing now tell me how you did it, size and paper and how you were able to get fine detail that would require a magifing glass. How with that detail you are able to keep it correct to size and shape. Could you also post the photo too so we can see the difference.

My social skills are just fine.
As I said in my other post, I'm sorry for the
way I did word it.
It's just stupid to me how people always try
to bring down these people who are extreamly
talented.
I can see where you are coming from, there
are people who lie and try to trick people...
AND that the drawing IS really good and can
be mistaken for a photo, there are some things
in the picture where it is noticable that it is a
drawing.

Oh my God... this is truly amazing... It looks like a photograph and although I'm not exactly experienced in this... I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference between it and a photo... but this is wonderful... My only criticism is that I wish the full view came up with a bigger picture, hehe. Keep up the great work!!!

Think about this for two seconds, would you?
The drawing is larger than a scanner... so what tool would an artist use to get a digital representation of something that is on tangible media?

In-Apt In reply to dygel [2003-10-16 16:45:13 +0000 UTC]

I have been thinking on this drawing all day.

Maybe I have been a bit hasty, but:

1- if it were me, I would be very flattered... and it's no joke. I really would.
2- I saw the size of it, but I have no notion of american size measurements, so I didn't realized that.
3- The actual resizing and photograph of the portrait would make some of the distinctive elements of the picture itself become blurried-unnoticeable, hence "helping" to this smoothness that makes it look unbeliavable natural.

So, I am sorry if I said that, but you must think that not everybody is fully aware of american standard measurements and some of that apparent "detail" can be unnoticed to people used to the metric system.

You must agree with me that, were the drawing the same size as the deviation, some of the elements like the smooth shine on the glasses frame would be (to everything I've seen) impossible. Again here I must recall nr3 for explanation.

So please forgive me both you and ~nimra ; and you must also agree that two seconds wouldn't be enough to judge this trully awesome artistic piece.

The ever stupid (lol) me arrests his case.
