Description
CompletedIn the Name of the Father Sold 2007
Pencil on matboard 21” x 40”
Under the auspices of the Christian church there have been both horrible atrocities and amazing selfless acts of giving, all in “The Name of the Father”. The rouge priest stands for this duality; representing both the victim and culprit. Is he freeing the Christ from his cross or tearing him from his symbol of martyrdom? Helper, healer, consoler, rapist, madman, thief…
Thank you all for following this wip and for all the great comments and questions asked, I will try to get back to you as best as I can.

Armin, I really like this one a lot. As I look at it and look at his eyes I imagine that he has been perhaps drinking a bit too much of the wine used in mass and getting more and more angry until he decides to do something that he wouldn't normally do.

The expression in this piece is fabulous, you never cease to amaze me.
You captured every dimple, line, wrinkle and they all work together to form his expression.
Wonderful, just wonderful.

Excuse my corniness. But now that I've caught you online, I must tell you that your work is amazing, truly an inspiration, not only for the sublime artwork, but also the comments you leave accompanying them. As a fellow pencil artist, I can only hope to one day be half as good as you.
You keep up the Great work and I'll keep trying to.

Well thank you so much! Since observation along with a hopefully unique concept I do try and work from observation. Now saying that I change things to work compositionally or just make them more interesting. Thank you for your questions! /\\\

thank you...
If the was done, the politics or social standing of this drawing would change. The Christ figure in this work is plastic, not white or black. The issues is the abuses of this talisman that’s been heaved onto walls while its practitioners where killing each other underneath it. It certainly not a historical account of the crucifixion (if it even happened) and its not in my image I am much fatter then this guy.

the image....my bad! i do understand, you should write an essay, i'm really interested in your perspective - it's so hard to convince people that the jesus myth originated 2-4,000 years before year 0 (the year 0? haha!!)

holy!! holy!! crap!! this is amazing, and it's a drawing!! i think you can retire now, or keep going and kill rock and roll!!!
the darkened shades is what amazes me the most, besides the concept.
i'd ask you how you can create such magnificent textures and tones, but you wouldn't ask a Bush where he went on vacation would you?
great work!
