Description Completed
In the Name of the Father Sold 2007
Pencil on matboard 21” x 40”

Under the auspices of the Christian church there have been both horrible atrocities and amazing selfless acts of giving, all in “The Name of the Father”. The rouge priest stands for this duality; representing both the victim and culprit. Is he freeing the Christ from his cross or tearing him from his symbol of martyrdom? Helper, healer, consoler, rapist, madman, thief…

Thank you all for following this wip and for all the great comments and questions asked, I will try to get back to you as best as I can.

Thank you for looking

Mind boggling. Chuck Close, watch out. Great work. It's realism like that which motivates me to keep learning.

An intricate piece that deserves great admiration, i must say you are of great talent.
The lines are almost flawless.
The man, his expression, detail, symbolistic value, all blend in with the objects.
The message is strong and the lines are solid.
This is truley one of if not the greatest drawing on this site.
You obviously spent so much time on this work that no words of mine could reward you the fruits you deserve for this masterpeice, but i offer you my thanks in allowing me to gaze upon the mind of a true artist.

Do you have people pose or do you work from pictures? The details are amazing in every part of the picture. How long does it take you to do these?

the hair and skin are well done. two things: the tendons in the thumb curve outward, rather than being taut. also, the darker "line" or linear "shape" under his left eye (in the shadow of his nose) is.... a wrinkle, dimple..???? one hand one, it may add uniqueness and opposes "perfection", but i'm curious if you meant for that imperfection.

the thumb/index finger webbing is SWEET! i love it

Have you considered a career in theology? Think you would wonderfully.

Im intrigued by the subject matter. Was a particular figure in your life a muse or meaningful event the spark for this piece, or rather just a message (albeit metaphorically) about your personal view on the Church?

Your technical skill is still becoming much better. Kudos "Yoda"!

Look at the negative space between the hair, and don’t make one continues line for hair; lost and found edges are the key, good luck.

You know, I've seen a few of your pieces, and every time I am amazed by the detail and the intricacies in each piece. You truly capture the emotions of the people you draw in every crease and wrinkle, every slight change in musculature, every glint in the eyes. The positions of the hands, the way that they're clenched, just everything. You are genuinely astounding. The shading is perfect, you've captured the intricacies of light.

Every piece of yours has struck me breathless. You are an amazing artist, and your works are amazing pieces of artistry.

Unbelievable, by manipulating the light and utilizing such an uncharacteristically cold background, you have created an ambivalent mood; one of both symbolic piety and stark evil. Excellent.

of course, it has already been faved last time.

Ah, I see it is finished, and looking great I might add. I must say, I love this picture; it is beautifully drawn, and I love the message as well. I, myself, am a Christian, but I am not blind to the atrocities committed by the church and so-called men of God. God himself may be perfect, but his followers are far from it.

As always, amazing work.
