Description
Shattered I8” x 8” pencil on hot press board.
This is a small pencil drawing of a smashed light bulb. Set up as a still life with low lighting and a low view (worm eye) this was a very interesting drawing to execute. This is only the first part of a diptych type presentation. Thank you

This is gorgeous. I love your photorealism because not only does it look absolutely perfect but the subject is always interesting. I can't describe the giddy excitement that seeing that you've put up a new drawing inspires in me! So.. I'm satisfied for a while.

Was this sketched from looking at the actual bulb or off a photo?

That's just, wow.. Incredible, your technique is flawless -- every drawing I see only manages to impress me even further than you're already awe-inspiring and impressive fully gallery. Wonderfully done, you managed to capture the look of glass, nearly exactly, and that's something so many artists have real trouble with. The shadows play wonderfully, and realistically, and your attention to detail by including a reflection that ACTUALLY looks like something besides the white splotches so many people think is sufficient is just, incredible. You also did very well in hiding that which wouldn't normally be seen (and thus saved yourself some drawing time!) with those reflections, hiding the glass underneath the glass because it wouldn't normally be seen due to the high glare.. I definitely applaude that because I think so many people really overlook small details like that in an effort to catch detail which shouldn't be there. The metal contact and base glass (in the contact) are what impress me the most, the striking resemblance to the real life thing is just, undeniable -- and if you had told me this was a photo done with grainy lenses, I would have believed it in a heart beat.
My only question is the bulb top, in the final piece will it be resting against something, because right now it's sitting upright without any visible weight (like another piece of glass) holding it that way, and given the shape and the shallowness of it I would have assumed it would have fallen topwise. Other than that, no questions, and a for sure. Excellent work superceded, as usual.
I very very much look forward to the final drawing.

If I could think of something to say here, I'd say it, but unfortunately (fortunately, actually) your skill with the pencil and such surpasses anything I've seen, so I'm speechless.

I know, I know, you've heard it before.
I clicked on your deviation link though to bring me here and forgot it was your work I was looking at. At first I thought "Oh, cool photo. Really like this." And then it said Drawing. Drawing? I shake my head and let my jaw drop in disbelief. You are a master of the pencil (and anything else you use). Let me know if there is a course I can sign up for.
