Description
“Monolithic”Pencil on Illustration Board 30” x 40”
To see each element a little closer check the earlier wips.
This drawing is in the same realm but not a sequel to “fragile” a drawing I had on DA a while ago. There are big differences here and some similarities as well. The crux of the concept is aging and dealing with the knowledge of your own mortality. The two eyes are my step-fathers and my real fathers both have looked death square in the eye in the last year. Apart form there influence on me and the deep respect I have for each of them, they also represent an end of a journey, life’s journey. Myself represented in the center square is venerable, scared and helpless to affect time and what’s coming. The plumb bob symbolizes a pendulum (time) and strengthens the monolith. The bulb, a container of light now ruined and smashed but still idolized on its altar, its monolith. This gives some clues to my thought process and interest in symbolism some personal some universal. The rest, the sky, the storm, water and the outlined platform left with mostly negatives space strengthens the feel and tensions. I am revealing more then I usually feel comfortable with, I don’t want to take the mystery out of it so this is all I well say about this drawing, as far as meaning.
Next it’s off to do a rare commission I am extremely excited about it for is of a very special friend, I will do it as a wip I hope you check it out.
Thanks all for looking

Hey Armin i have a question. Is this all on one illustration board or are all of this just separate drawings combined to make one image?

It’s all on one board, I tape off the section I’m drawing on with painters tape thereby getting a very clean edge.
Thanks
Armin

There are emotions that stricke so hard in our hearts that whatever we attempt with a pencil afterwards is nothing short of a masterpiece. You seem to have felt those emotions.

I can't find the words to describe how much I adore this.
It's gorgeous. Everything about it is just so...flawless. And the concept behind it is potrayed fabulously. It's amazing anyone is able to draw so well.

Eye CandyWow. There ... are just ... absolutely no words ... I could ever say ... to describe this.
It's not even a drawing! It's just there. There's no way anyone even drew that. Things like this just don't happen.

... Shading..
My lord, the shading. You know exactly how to concentrate the light, shape, and form- the physics (holy shit..) god damn.
I cannot stop staring, it's as though I'm learning how to create light again.

Keep rockn it.

ohhh myyyy ! how can it be possible to draw like this, as if it was so real !??? ! I would give anything to draw like you. I mean, I look at all the metallic elements & details and it is wonderfully drawn. Same with the faces' parts (eyes & skin) !
This is a masterpiece to me
I'm speachless now... still can admire this piece that I will never forget.
