StrippedGraphite on Illustration board
When finished 40” x 30”
This part 8” x 8”
This is my third drawing in this series the first two can be seen on my gallery page “Monolithic” and “Fragile”
Like the first two these Wips are a little different in that I show small finished areas which come together when completed. This is the first time in this sires where I drew my own eye, I used a mirror for this which really lets me look so much closer than any photo could. There will be five main subjects within this drawing (two eyes, roots, clouds and a main center which I am still working out the concept)

I love how you can actually see the fine lines and pores in the skin. I love exploring that sort of detail. I would be honored if you would also take a look at my work, which also involves extreme close-ups of my own face. I welcome critiques.

Sorry I have to ask after looking closer at the drawing, how do you get all your lighter hairs so perfect? I have tried using various sharpened eresers and putty rubbers to do this but I can never get the precise detail you seem to have in here. The eyelashes are just amazing.

I tried erasing myself in it really doesn’t work for me, so I have leave the areas white and draw around them, take time but works great.

YIKES!! that is awsome the amount of detail and realism you have in there is incredible. I would say its like a photograph, but its not its so much better than a photo, there is way more detail and texture in it than you would ever get in a photo.

inspiring - i love the level of detail you've achieved in the tear-duct. i can't comprehend how much careful study that must have taken. though i feel the hairs are a little lacking, i think that it's a lack of any percievable shadow. i feel, however, that this eye will be a relatively small section of the final picture, so it won't show up as much. stupendous, as always!

I don’t think that’s happing in the hair on the bottom or top lid but when you mention it, some shadow on the brow especially on the viewers right might work, thanks for the suggestion.
