Description
The new title is “The Waking Edge”Graphite on Illustration Board 39” x 31”
This work is of the precise point when conscience is awakened, the experience of sudden reality. It happens when we first wake and it happens suddenly, unexpectedly in life’s journey. Nothing here is precise to anyone except to myself. It’s personal in its symbolism yet there are universal symbols as well. The background is drawn more for the “feel” it gives the overall drawing, industrial, decomposing almost contradictory to what Jessica looks like yet her sudden frozen stare brings a different reality to the work one of angst. Symbols such as a metal halo, the meeting of circles forming a vesica, bones, stones and even her attire are important icons in this story. Yet to explain these would gives too much away. Since it’s a teaching forum I tell much more then I feel comfortable with, but it gives an indication to my process, the only true hint would normally be the title, “The Waking Edge”
Like much of my work there’re are people who I connect with; it opens up their imaginations by adding their personal insights, yet some will see nothing but the negative and transpose every clue. As always, what the viewer sees in this work is the truth for that individual and I find that much more interesting in the long run.

Armin, I saw this today at the gallery. It's even more beautiful in person than it is on the computer. I wasn't expecting to see in there, but sure enough, I turned the corner and there it was.
It made a chill go up my spine. I've never had that kind of reaction to a drawing before. I look forward to hearing you speak at 3 on Friday. See you then hopefully!
Cheers,
Kristina

Armin,
Beautiful detail throughout...the details on the knitted sweater are especially amazing. Very time consuming but well worth it in showing of the final piece.

he speaks the truth.
this is yet another amazing drawing. not only does it show mastery in technical skills with things such as the realism of the fabric on her shirt, but there is such a story behind it, as always with your drawings. the viewer can interpret it many different ways, depending on their own life experiences, and to me that makes art timeless.
spectacular work, this is one of my favorites so far.

I’m not satisfied with just drawing realistically, its just a tool to express my insights, feelings and hopes yet it’s a great way to get someone to notice the work and hopefully if minds meet then we communicate.

Armin, congratulations on another outstanding concept and drawing! And in time for your exhibition too. Her look is what steals the show here and gives so much atmosphere to this drawing. The background reinforces that feeling. This is such a beautiful showcase of textures and emotions....
What can someone say when they look at excellence? I really have no words....You inspire me, my friend!
