Description
The-StarDog 's Simpsons and Scooby Doo art inspired me to combine two of my favorite things together. So here's Councilor Esteban from Elena Of Avalor re-imagined as a werejaguar.Related content

Love the idea! I wonder it might would happen in the future episode. He looks so handsome in his jaguar form. I could scratch Esteban’s chin. ^^

Thank you for the compliment (and the fave)! Cats do love their chin scratches, even werecats. XD It'd be crazy, but I'd honestly love it if the show did something like this.
I need to draw some more of this guy!

I agree! As I scratch Esteban's chin, he can purr.

Yeah, I was arguing with myself about which he should have. The mustaches won since they make him so identifiable.

IKR? One of the girls will smooth his mustaches. I drew Mr. Fizz cosplays as Esteban.

I'm not familiar with that particular character I'm afraid (though I have seen a few episodes of KND before), but I'll check it out!

This is a really fun piece of art! I kinda love that he looks like he's still holding it together despite being a werejaguar. Like he is still determined to be very regal and important LOL. I haven't seen much of Elena of Avalor, but based on what I do know this is pretty perfect. Awesome job!

Thank you! Hey, regardless of whether he's fuzzy or not , he still has an important job to do in the kingdom LOL.

He's very handsome and elegant! I've never seen that show, though I have seen clips.

Esteban as a werejaguar? What a marvelous idea! He does look like he's taking the transformation in stride; heck he looks like he's admiring his new polished claws LOL. I love how he retains his facial hair and hairdo too. Those things transitioned over well into his transformation, although I can't say the same for his torn up trousers haha! But seriously, you'd did a great job on drawing the man as a werejaguar.

Thanks! To touch on the points you raised, considering EoA's setting, making him a werejaguar made way more sense than a werewolf. I also decided to keep his facial hair and hairdo to make him more or less still recognizable. And right? XD He's cool as a cucumber.

Oh of course!
I can understand why you made him a were jaguar and not a werewolf. If it were the latter, it wouldn't make one lick of sense LOL. Keeping his 'do and facial hair was a good idea; when I spotted them, I instantly recognized who was in the illustration. Very good thinking here.

Ah. He does look handsome. Though bless me, I had never heard of Elena of Avalor before today. xD But, after a quick glance at its Wikipedia article, it sounds interesting.
(Also, I love how bored he looks. Given the rips in his trousers I'd say he just transformed, but he's taking it in stride.)

I thought his good looks should carry over to his cat form. xD As for EoA, I'm honestly not sure if it'd be up your alley or not. It has some interesting elements, like how they depicted the spirit world in one episode, and they play around with expectations for one particular character in a way I really like and don't see too often. But take a wild guess at how they used Esteban's character in the show.
Hee. That's about right. It's more accurate to say he's closer to a shape-changer rather then a werecreature though, so no painful transformations for him. He can do it any old time he wants.

Well, it can't hurt to try. But just from you bringing it up, I'm guessing that Esteban is the typical snobbish foil. >>
I see. :3 Though I tend to think of werebeasts as shifting at will as well... and whether it's painful or not depends on how I feel like imagining them.
Mm, makes me wonder if you're actually making this as part of a larger fanfiction.

That’s the spirit. XD If you want, I can recommend the better episodes to you (I just watch for some of the supporting cast).
But just from you bringing it up, I'm guessing that Esteban is the typical snobbish foil. >>
Bingo. He's pretty much a giant cliché early on.
- Wants to take the throne from the rightful ruler? Check. Although unlike similar characters like Scar he never tried to kill his cousin, just undermine her. And weirdly enough they drop this element later and haven't acknowledged it since.
- Mostly trotted out to be made into a joke? Uh huh, did that too. Though one funny thing is half the time he’s in the background rolling his eyes at the nonsense going on around him.
- Isn't really given any interaction with other characters aside from just the ones he clashes with. Yep. A shame, because there is at least one other character that I think he’d get on with because he’s similarly pragmatic and no-nonsense.
It was frustrating, because he’s a complex and realistic character (for a show like this) and they drop so many interesting tidbits about him -- he feels like he wasn’t able to pursue his life’s passions because he was always being ordered around and still is, the whole thing with him and a major villain (which I won’t get into now because of spoilers), etc. They just did a lot of dumb garbage with him. The recent episodes have made better use of him though, so there’s that.
I see. I guess I should specify for me it what triggers the change depends on the type of werebeasts and story being told.
Not really. It was just a little idea I started playing around with for fun. I wouldn't mind writing fanfic for EoA. I’m just not sure if any of it will involve werejaguars though.

Sure. o:
Weird that they'd just drop his ambition. Personally I find that kind of thing really intriguing it's called intrigue after all, especially when there's a reasonable case for a usurpation.
Though one funny thing is half the time he’s in the background rolling his eyes at the nonsense going on around him.
xD Though that does kind of make me think of Antoine -- the one sane man in a world of crazies. For some reason sticking the joke character with the common sense seems to be popular. -Headashake.-
But it sounds like they're doing better, for whatever reason. :3 Here's hoping the trend continues.
-Nodnodnod.- Yeah. I didn't really need to say that -- and we've talked about therianthropy before. Anyway I feel the sameway, that it varies somewhat by what i'm going for.
Ah. xD Well, I'm sure werejaguars wouldn't hurt if youd idd ecidetoin clude them.

The King of Carnivale – The first episode where we first see character development for Esteban
Olaball
My Fair Naomi
Masks Of Magic: A little corny in some parts, but another supporting character that was initially depicted as an antagonist gets development.
I don’t even object to a series or whatever having antagonistic (not necessarily out-and-out villains) characters. But a character shouldn’t be an antagonist just because they have different views from the main characters, don’t fit the stereotypical idea of masculinity (when they have male joke characters, they’re often either nerds or effeminate, IE: not “real men”), are rich/nobility, or aren’t happy go lucky 24-7.
The other episodes range in quality from “I don’t need to see this a second time”, to outright cringey, to good, but I just chose the ones I thought were the most interesting.
I'm hoping they acknowledge it in some manner. Though I don't think there’s much of a good reason for his wanting to rule. The title character is the direct heir, and so far she’s not bad at it. On one hand I understand being put off when you’ve helped keep the kingdom afloat for years only to have to this girl with zero experience show up and be like, "Yeah, I can totally run this place!" and everyone else is just like “Cool!” And I definitely get the resentment he felt towards his family early on. But I can’t agree with the choices he made (I’m trying to avoid spoilers here, but early on he ended up intentionally helping a major villain).
Yeah, he and Antoine definitely have some similarities. Oh, thankfully no EoA character is as annoying as SatAM!Sonic is. Actually, I’m okay with the whole cast.
Yeah, they've even been making the title character more flawed, which is a relief.
That we have (though I don’t recall where that was exactly). I just wasn’t sure if I’d ever mentioned that before or not.
Having looked into werejaguars in Meso-American culture/folklore, I can probably incorporate the idea in a way that’s not out of bounds with the canon. Plus, I admit that I find it a little annoying that Elena gets all the cool powers and all the magical creatures in Avalor only talk to her.
