Description
So I was starting to hate the old quadsuit blueprints I had on here, because they were way outdated and yet they were still getting attention. So I drew up some new ones that are much more accurate. There not perfect but they are way better than the last ones.Enjoy.

Perhaps this is a bit too gung-ho, but have you considered perhaps having some sort of lever or pulley (or something like the jaw contraption) on the handles, so that you can turn it by rolling your wrist forward and back, and it bends the suit's front 'wrists'?

I have considered something similar to that.
Controlling the foot movement with the hand. But when youre in a quadsuit your already using a ton of energy just to wear the suit and walk around. The way I do it now utilizes gravity to move the foot down as the wearer lifts their leg. To do things like wave, the wearer just has to bob the leg up and down slightly.

Looks like a great plan! It's always nice to see people who realize you need more padding than just the rear legs.

Also use an elastic strap from helmet to belt to soport neck and help carry the weight iF you like, I find it much easier to carry the heavy foam.

ya, I figured that was a personal preference so I didn't put it in the picture. But that's what I might do with Kyuubi's new head.

Just curious...how does one prevent the pipe-leg from causing injury to themselves? I made some arm stilts for a last minute wanna-be sorta quad suit thing, and ended up with some bruises at the top of my arms (well, that was stupid on my part for not padding the top of the pipe at first I guess XD ), as well as on my knuckles even with gloves on, and two weeks later and my pinky and ring fingers still have a slight "numb" feeling to them O-o; I have no idea how I made my fingers numb, but what do you do on the inside of the pipe to prevent hand injuries?

Hi Wolf force, Blisters and numb fingers are quite common with quads.
A sports wrist soport and to hold your wrists so your knuckles point downwards towards the floor rather than faceing forward, this puts less strain on wrist and stops fingers rubing, also use of a good sized pipe helps, dont use small drainpipe you can only just fit into, that can cause cramps, and lots of sweating.
hope that helpes a bit.

Hmm, I should look in to some wrist supports! The pipe I'm using I didn't think my knuckles would rub, but they did on the first and last knuckle (pointer and pinky) once my weight went on to my hands. Thank you so much for the advice!!

you just have to glue padding in there where your knuckles touch the inside of the pipe (you can also put mole skin on your knuckles before you suit). And if you're getting bruises on your upper arms, that means your stilts are too high. You need to cut like an inch off the top. The numbness in the hands is just something that happens; after you've built up some strength and durability in your hands that wont happen anymore. I think we did see you at SacAnime. Were you the dark wolf thing?

Haha, yup that was me. I was trying to cosplay as Blue from Wolf's Rain...but yeah, last minute costumes don't work well (I never even saw how I looked before I went out into public! haha And even then didn't know what my costume actually looked like until afterward when I saw the pictures...UGH! Failed so hard!). That's kinda reassuring though to hear that the numbness is something that just happens...to be honest, it was worrying me Ideally, where should the top of the pipe reach on your arms? Below your elbow, or above? Thank you so much for the advice, by the way! ^_^ It's much appreciated!

below your elbow. About an inch or two below. That way you can still bend your arms. That bending really sells it when you walk. Ya your costume did look, honestly, a little unfinished. and if your going for blue from wolfs rain, I'd try to make the face look a little more tooney; bigger eyes, fluffier, etc. She is a cartoon character when you boil it down. Ya, the numbness happens when your not used to having that much weight on your hands for long periods of time. It just takes practice, or training rather. I'm glad to help a new quadsuiter.

Ah, well there's one big problem...my pipes were well up past my elbows, haha. I didn't know having them lower would be good...though it makes total sense. And yeah, I used, well, "real" materials, so I couldn't have too much control over the looks (never the less the fact that mine was poorly thrown together and definitely 'unfinished' *cough*underplanned*cough*). I'd love to have a full quad suit some day, but I'm not sure I have the competency to really build one. At least it wouldn't be anything amazing like your suit is! And thank you again so much for all of your advice! Would you be ok with me faving your picture here as a reference for if I do attempt to make a REAL quad suit some day?

Ya, taking the tops down to below your elbows will fix a lot of your problems. It will probably help with that numbness in your hands a little too.
Sure you can, and I wish you luck.
If you're really having trouble you could always commission someone to make one for you. I do quadsuit commissions.

Thank you! ^_^ And just curious, about how much would you charge for a simple canine character quad suit? I know most quad suits cost a lot, so that's why I have interest in trying to make my own, haha.

For a solid color, plain wolf with unhinged stilts and minimal padding it would cost you around 800 dollars. And before you start thinking that's expensive let me tell you that most quadsuits ordered on commission cost 1000 or over. I'm probably not the cheapest out there but I'm one of them. I get a lot of people asking about quadsuits without doing their research when it comes to prices first.
Oh, and if you do get a suit from me you wouldn't have to pay shipping; we could just meet up at SacAnime and you could pick it up. Quadsuits cost like 300 dollars to ship because they are so large.

Oh, I've seen quadsuits starting base-price at $2,000...$800 is what some people charge just for a fursuit head! That's actually VERY cheap for a full quadsuit, especially since I know your stuff is good quality and looks nice. Well, I don't have that kind of money to blow at the moment, but if I can save money up I might just end up coming to you for a future commission instead of fully make my own, lol.

Ya, I shop specially for cheap but good quality materials. And since it would be a simple character it wouldn't be that hard. Especially if you take out things like markings, the hinged stilts, and use only minimal padding. Foam is very expensive. But quadsuits are time consuming so a lot of makers charge like 15.00 or more dollars an hour for the work. I do the work and log my hours and then decide how much I'll charge for labor per hour after I've seen how long it took and stuff. Quadsuits are an exception to the way I generally charge. And I do payment plans if your interested. I look forward to hearing from you about it.

I'll have to talk to my fiance about it, haha, see what his opinion is, as well as probably wait 'till I get my summer job before I'd be able to pay. One question though: do you do changeable eyes? (like, have the eyes not entirely held in by the eyelids, and have velcro put in behind them so they can be switched out with other eyes) The person who is re-making my current fursuit head is going to be doing that, so I was just wondering if it was an option ^_^
