Yin returned to her world. She.. had somewhat of a plan formed. She just needed to go through with is. She needed to make her choice. She just needed to speak with her family..
She was tired of crying from not being able to decide. She was tired of not deciding. Of letting others decide for her. She was tired of hurting Kardia. Of making him wait like this. Of making him feel like this. She didn’t want to hurt him. To lose him. But what her mirror self said was true; if she waits too long she’ll lose both things she wanted so desperately to keep.
The talk she had had with Kardia before she left told her that very clearly. He would not be there if she did not decide. Her words meant nothing if not followed by actions taken. He knew what he wanted.
And after all this time being unable to decide. Being stuck. Being selfish and wanting everything she had. She’d decided what she wanted.
Walking forward she was determined. People could see it. The servants moved out of her way and remained there watching her go. The years she’d spent training how to act, how to speak, would come in handy here. Her family would likely be in the throne room with Prince Li’s family. Still planning out and discussing the idea of betrothals. Still standing static like she had been..
As she approached the door to her family’s throne room she hesitated. What if they’d already come to a conclusion. That would be the end of this plan… And mean all she could do was-God why did she always have to Think so much. Focus! Please!! Think of now, the present. Not what might happen..
Yin finally knocked upon the door.
“Emperor WeiSheng,” She spoke clearly through the door. “Permission to enter.”
There was a murmur of voices behind the door. Many she did not recognize, that was likely Li’s family.. But she heard familiar voices as well. Voices of servants, of her sister and her fiancé, of her mother..
“Permission granted.” Came the loudest of the voices, her father. And with that the door was opened for her to enter. Steeling herself for what she had to do, she took a few steps inside before she bowed to everyone. She had to choose her words carefully here. As much as she wanted to blurt it out.. She was going to follow through regardless of what happened here.. But it would be much more difficult since she did not know what Li’s family had planned… What they could do.
The first rule of a fight was to know the enemy… And she unfortunately knew very little about all of them.
Standing in the center of the throne room gazing up at her mother and father who were sat upon an elevated throne, Yin bowed once more to them.
“Emperor WeiSheng. I ask to be able to speak with you and Mother privately.”
Looking up Yin could see the stare of her father’s golden eyes. His face unmoving, with no expression, yet it felt cold all the same.
“When do you wish to speak?”
“Now, your majesty.” Yin stood up straight, doing her best to hide her nerves. She could do this.. She had to do this.. She had to. Or she’d lose him.. “It is important and cannot wait any longer.”
Behind her, was an uproar. Many different water dragons, all Li’s family presumably, were claiming she should have to wait as this was also important. His parents, his siblings, it even seemed like his grandparents were here. Yin meanwhile did not take her eyes off her parents.
But as the Emperor’s gaze shifted from Yin to the Wei Family, who soon quieted down once they realized they would not be able to convince him.
“Permission granted.” Was all her father spoke. And any uproar that would have returned was immediately shut down once more by MeiYing and Jian who ushered all the water dragons out of the throne room. As soon as the doors were closed and all who were left were just Yin and her parents.
The realization kicked in for Yin. This was it. She had chosen what she wanted and could not back out. She didn’t want to back out.
“What is it you want to speak about?” This time it was Yin’s mother, the Empress, who spoke up. The smaller woman seemed concerned, even while sitting up there on her throne. Perhaps she had been worried as to where her daughter had gone earlier today. Or perhaps she was worried there was something wrong now. Her father remained stone faced, unmoving, with his golden eyes peering down at her.
Yin took a moment, she had to take a deep breath and focus on what she wanted to do. What she needed to do. When she spoke, her voice was clear and direct. Her eyes focused directly on her parents. She knew what she wanted..
“I am here to inform you that I will not break off my relationship with Kardia; no matter what you or anyone else decide by the end of all this.”
She was going to do whatever it took to get it.
And so.. Inside the throne room Yin spoke to her parents. She refused to back down from what she said. She refused to change her mind. She refused to put anyone else first in this matter. She refused think of anything else other than what she’d decided. She finally chose what she wanted.
And what she wanted was Kardia.
