Description
Apologies for te lack of recent updates... Been busy - also busy working on my site updates! Have a look and leave a comment!:2DForever
Anyway, as for this piece:
I had a dream the other night of being underwater - typically in these dreams I'd wake up quickly realising I can't breathe, but in this case I could - which was a bonus. Anyway, this stemmed from that dream.
Is he drowning? Is he trying to say something? Up to you, but it was an image that stuck in my head after my dream. Kind of scary, kind of not. He could just be blowing bubbles.
I promised to someone that I would go further into my technique used on my pictures. This particular piece is very simple, I just wanted to draw it quickly so it was typical brush work straight into Photoshop for me. Very similar to traditional painting techniques, I splashed in a base shape of a dark colour then painted in lighter shades to create the shapes. I put the bubbles and the background on separate layers so I could tweak those as much as necessary without ruining the focal figure.
Hope that helped... in some way!

There aren't a whole lot of eye paths in this piece, but the composition manages to avoid banality by having just enough breathing space (pun possibly intended) to the right of the figure. The strongest part of the image is probably the lighting, though. The two light sources in conjunction with the background shafts of light lend tremendously to the overall dramatic effect, far more so than if there were only one light source. Using a subdued color palette was also a nice, unifying touch.

That's true, you have to keep onto them as soon as you wake up, but even then it quickly escapes you... Thanks for the comment

*bluuurb* (call..the...plumber!) *bluurb*
I used to have alot of those dreams when i was a kid.. tho it would be like just before i'd wake up . . i'd try taking a breathe.. and yup could breathe underwater! Since it felt kind of harder to breathe underwater my theory is that i had my face down on my pillow while i dreamt it : ) Seems logical now thinking about it. So was it like in the middle of the sea? your dream that is. so dark water everywhere?

As I read though I thought it's probably because you're face down in your pillow - I know that's the case for me as I'd typically wake up lying on my front!
As for this dream, I assume that it was deep, only a few bits of light and one weird looking man!
Thanks for the comment as usual

Curiously,this image is breathtaking.
The eyes covered of shadow adds him that disgusted expressivity of drowning. The coluring is great, because with a little strokes you made a character and background very smooth like being shaded with an aerograph tool.

Thanks for the great comment! Although I have to ask, aerograph tool? I'm assuming that's like an airbrush? Sounds cool, either way!

this is a glorious piece. god dammit though it is scary. i have seen things like this like in movies and whatever, and it always gives me a sensation of shortness of breath. almost like i want to breath for them like I am suffering with them and i cant breathe ether even though i am alive and well in real life. its weird why that happens. but this made that happen to me. i had to step back a second a realize that i wasnt him. that is amazing.
