Most of them can just be loved for their cuteness. Β Some of the bigger species out west need their numbers managed - mostly to stop them eating themselves out of house and home and then suffering an ugly death in the dryer parts. Β Australians sometimes get a bad name for doing that, but if you've ever seen one starved, it give you a new appreciation of how carefully they need to be managed.Β

Aw I luv them no matter wht and I dont want them starving! Im also creating a movie about a wallaby....hehe its like how he ends up in the outback after being separated by his mom and siblings and meets a wombat named bonzer whos rough around the edges, a not too bright in the head dingo named dawa and koda a koala who may look cuddly but isnt and luvs to sleep and lounge around in trees..hehe

I suspect, like most of our critters, they probably have a few names.

Stupid question from oversea. What's the difference between a Wallaby and a Kangaroo?
π: 0 β©: 1
2Stupid2Duck In reply to Fero1984 [2008-10-03 20:05:17 +0000 UTC]
LOL. Not stupid at all. They look fairly much the same and are part of the same family. Wallabies are smaller (and for some reason tend to be a bit cuter.) I think Kangaroos tend to inhabit open plains where wallabies do hills and rocky areas.

I understand.
Thanks for that short biological lesson
Hmm.. But now there is one last question. So you're from fascinating Australia - where many fascinating creatures live. Why the heck did you choose a duck for your avatar and username, when you don't even have a single picture of a duck in your gallery...

LOL. Here's the explanation for the name. I was an online gamer. I played a game called Alien Vs Predator II and was in a clan called DMW (Dead Men Walking). They were a cool group, and even though most we very good, we made fun of ourselves because you're never quite good enuf. So, I started calling myself 2Stupid2Duck - making fun of how many times I got myself killed. It was also making fun of the people with the uber kewl names like Death4U.

ROFL. So your username is just a joke-making nickname for a ultra cool game.
Now I understand..

I think they're adorable little marsupials. Are baby wallabies still called Joey's?

I don't think people oveseas understand what a pain in the @rse they can really be, and how dangerous if you hit one at 120 Kph. They're much nicer just being stalked through the bush by fat photographers.

I agree with Beau. She seems to be either grinning at you or giving you a very coy look. Great photo though. How on earth did you get her to stand so still

2Stupid2Duck In reply to LeonineLioness [2008-09-26 01:08:33 +0000 UTC]
She wasn't standing too still. I used a very fast shutter speed to try to minimise the blur.

They were a bit skittish. Later on, I was just sitting there with the camera ready - waiting in my patient duckie when when a big red one come right up to me and sniffed my face. Scared the crap out of me. I didn't know what to do, so I just stayed still. He sniffed, checked me out and then hopped away. Matty was killing himself laughing.

She's grinning at you, duck.
Full frontal nude at last! - I've been waiting!
Right lens, right distance, right aperture, right DOF, perfect framing, still a little movement? Who cares... great shot!
