i really love this picture, especially the small hint white light in the eye of the mask, is that a reflection of the softbox? if so its a nice touch weather deliberate or not nicely done ^.^

Thanks.
Yep its the reflection of the softbox. For some reason it adds a lot to pictures with glass in them.

haha yeah its funny that something that photographs sometimes painstakingly try to erase by using cutters etc actually looks awesome i tried the same technique with some large cyber goggles...might revisit that one again

you should gasmasks are awesome.
I've always wanted to try them in a formal scene, which would completely distort the atmosphere.

hmmm a formal scene that sounds like an awesome idea ^.^
well ive got a shoot in Feb when i go back to school from my holiday, part of the module is shooting nudes, so i might buy a gas mask and have them wear it ^.^

d300\'s definantly rock... and this pic is twice as fantastic as the camera. mind telling me how you took this?

sure, it's a fairly simple setup though.

2 50x70 softboxes, 1 left and 1 right (pretty extreme angles) and pretty close to the face so you get softer shadows and a quick falloff.
Both at the same output level. Black matte background, though you could use any background as it will get black from the light setup.
Then it's just a matter of getting close and fitting everything on the frame

Ow and some color balance in photoshop afterwards is nice as well.
