“P-paws?...” I said almost dumbfounded. There was no way those were paws. I had hands! These weren’t mine, they were just some sort of illusion! Yet there they were still right in front of my eyes. I couldn’t believe it. I had always wondered what it would be like to be another animal, but yet I was still so in shock now that I was seemingly becoming one. I never imagined that it would happen like this let alone happen at all. I just kept staring at the paws. I couldn’t acknowledge them as my own, but then suddenly a thought came to mind: I needed to feel them. Just like the desire to touch Arctic’s tail when it was in front of me I was filled with the thought that I needed to touch my paws. I needed to know they were real. I needed to know how they felt.

“I wonder if they feel real…” I said. My paws felt drawn to my face, and I started to feel warm as my raised one of them closer to my face. I closed my eyes as it got closer. I didn’t know what to expect, but then I felt it, felt it both on my face but also in the senses and nerves in my paws. The touch of the paw pads came as a shock to me yet to part of me it felt right. I almost felt ashamed at feeling that way, but they felt nice to me. I felt like I must have been blushing at what I was doing as I kept my paw there for a while, but then I started to feel tingly again this time in my feet. I opened my eyes to the feeling.

I didn’t realize it, but fine black fur had grown over my paws now making them really look like they belonged to some sort of animal. The realization quickly passed though as I drew attention to my feet. The tingling continued to grow and I knew something was happening to my feet. I stared at them until I winced as something seemed to be growing on the end of my toes. My realization met the pain as I saw claws rip through my socks. I couldn’t believe it, but that wasn’t the end of it. The initial rips in my socks only grew as my toes and claws grew out them. I flinched at the pain, but I kept watching my feet as I watched them start to look like what my hands had become.
