this was really a stupid reasonat least in BW rivalries had good reason, heck even if it was a grudge it was by good reason such as Georgia wanting to beat Iris when she actually got a Dragon Type or Burgundy wanting to win a Rematch to her gym battle
but this is just silly
I'm not saying it as an Anti-Serena thing, it's an Anti-Writers thing
Serena has good potential, especially since she doesn't know what path she wants to take, but the writers are doing so little with her
basically all she does is cook sweets, tense her hands, show off things with her PDA and blushes at the mention of Ash (which is double bad on the writers' part)
It's 25 episodes in an she still only has one Pokémon
Clemont has caught as many Pokémon as Ash right now (which i'm not complaining cos Clembo's awesome ;3 )
but seriously, even Dawn had more development than this, give the girl some independence and personality jeez ¬_¬

Dawn had a ribbon and three Pokemon by this point.
They're squandering Serena's potential badly. I started off liking her but that's slipping away as she seems more and more helpless.
I hope they turn it around, and maybe have her expand her identity beyond liking Ash, because it's getting her nowhere.
And yeah that rivalry is... More than dumb.

I originally disliked Iris compared to the others... Now that's changed lol. Annoying as she'd been, at least she had substance.
They really were. I hope it is, and I hope Serena changes soon. :/ Even if she got with Ash it'd be incredibly unsatisfying because the only build up we'd have is her pining over Ash, rather than legitimate build-up of a relationship between the characters. At least if things continue to go the way they are. What do they have in common, really? I can't think of a thing. It doesn't seem like they even talk to each other that much.

I need to find some good BW episodes, I can't watch it as a whole due to how much they downgraded Ash. It's painful for me lol. Maybe I'd appreciate her more if I saw some quality ones.

To be honest, it wasn't THAT much of a downgrade. In skill, yes. But in character? Not so much. xD
I actually never had high hopes for her, but I kind of wished her character wouldn't be as bad as I feared. Turns out, she is as bad, if not worse!

I can't stand the skill downgrades lol. He gets such a bad name for that. It's cringeworthy after all the hard work he's put in. That's good news that his character stays strong though. Also his appearance in BW is pretty bad from my perspective. I'll try to find some good episodes, I guess.

I really liked D/P Ash, but I will give it to you that I really miss the humor from pre-advanced. While the writing for battles, etc. got better, the humor got worse. If that's what you're thinking of. But I guess without the good battling to redeem it, that makes B/W look bad.

Yeah, Ash actually had a personality in the OS, and had his moments in AG. He just got dull afterwards and I wish he were replaced.

I wish he would've been after D/P. I know things got weird, but I enjoyed the series and his battles, and his interactions with Dawn way too much.
B/W made his overstayed welcome way too obvious. If they're not going to push him forward, you might as well move onto someone else. An anime based on Black/White would've been great, and I love Ash.

Exactly. :/ He beat a Darkrai for crying outloud. It should've been the final match and he'd face Darkrai last and take it down.
Would've been an awesome conclusion to the Ash anime. But they just have such an issue with him reaching success.

Or, if they kept his skill as it was, BW could have been the PERFECT end to Ash's time on the anime. That series even had him facing down Giovanni, which makes it also a perfect conclusion for Team Rocket. The XY series as it is is a travesty, especially since the Mega Evolution specials shows us what we could have had instead.
To me, it's May > Misty > Dawn and Iris > Marina (Johto special) > Serena.

Yeah, you've got a point there. Also if they didn't make him look eight years old.
They could have had them really facing off and follow that with what happened with the Mega Electro Ball.
The only things I like about XY are Bonnie and the fact that Ash's skills are back to normal again.
I'm so ticked he probably won't get a Mega Lucario. It's the perfect opportunity.
For me, it's Dawn>Misty>May>Iris>Serena.
Though I like the first three a lot and I'm starting to warm up to Iris, so the arrows don't mean a whole lot.

I just like Bonnie. And Clemont whenever he's playing off of her.

It was still an annoyingly spammed catchphrase and to give it a pass is a big double standard. And frankly, Ash deserved the insults half the time. And eventually it wasn't even insults, just teasing.
