Description
Fantasy animals. One is ispired by reindeer, but I modified the paws; I'm sorry I didn't any reference for the horns for this reason they came out so horrible. The other is a mix of different animals.Want to know? The colors didn't mean to be these, for example the reindeer should have been colored in red tones.
I don't like the paper I'm currently using. I'll try to find a different one; or to color with other techniques (but not different media; I'd like to use watercolors but not sure I want to start this month).

Grazie.
Suggerimenti per (migliorare) la colorazione?

Love the texture for the fur and the purple mane. Would I be wrong to think you're having fun?

I guess you can say it. I still prefer b/w to colors, but I'm having a good time with these attempts. Also, fantasy is an excellent excuse to justify strange colors palettes

It's one of the best reasons love me some fantastical creatures.
Can you define what you prefer about black and white? Is it the simplicity?

I like the fact that with b/w you have to do everything with one/two colors and that may be simple but not at all, at the end. I love when in a drawing I can express life and movement with just few lines. Sure, probabily I like its semplicity
However, with colors you can add a different kind of life in the drawing, as if it becomes more "full", I don't know how to say.
I guess it depends on what you do with both, b/w and colors ^^
And you? what do you prefer and why? (: I'd say colors, am I right?

I've been thinking about this whole idea you said about colors adding life, and I think a part of it is due to the fact that while b/w can have incredible things going on, the one thing they can't do is have the warmth that color can bring to a work.
I love both, like I love my ink work, I don't do enough of it, but it's what made me fall in love with art. The stark contrast of India black in on white paper was something I loved even when the ink work didn't turn out well.
But I also love colors. Theres so much that can be done with them that simply can't with b/w.

This is just awesome ... I mean that reindeer-inspired creature look very, very, very good
I mean just look at its design ... as you see that beautiful, simple and gracious design you can also look at the charming colors. The purplish and blue in the coat is really good, it looks really awesome
That anteater is really good, love the orange and brown coloring

Thanks. Coloration is still too transparent , from my point of view, but I like the result (read: I'm happy I didn't kill the drawing with colors ).

Well that's okay, color can both be a murderer as a bearer of life
You just need to master its use

Thanks (: I like it too, but I am not very happy about the color distribution, it's not uniform enough (and that goes for the reideer too).

I think it looks good to be honest, it looks more natural if it's not perfectly uniform. But you just do what you think s best

I know nothing, lol
All kidding aside, I don't know how I'd like to color, I'm just trying something so that I might learn, or at least start from some ideas.

Woooah, the deer-thing is amazing! I love its claws. Truly, an all terrain animal!!
Something Iorveth would probably like to have as a riding animal!
(sorry, but my head is too stuck in that story)

Np ^^ but the colors are a little too boreal for a forest setting, don't you think? (:
If you want to know, the original idea for the caribou-like animal was a meneater animal all in red hue .. but it has lost its fangs along the way.

It looks Indeed a little unicornish in white and lilac
But maybe it's some kind of were-animal that turns into the red meneater at night?
