Second, we have Chief Cheetah.

Personally, I love Wonder Woman canon, but I feel the Amazonian Princess is missing a good arch-nemesis. The OG Cheetah only really overlaps with Diana in the sense that they are both interested in museum antiquities, and whenever they throw down Cheetah can only barely hold her own against her. At most she’ll leave her with a Polysporin-worthy scratch.

My version, though, is a magic powered champion of a remote, civilization-free island. Lots of juicy parallels between the characters to explore. Plus, now she’s got the muscle to go toe-to-toe with Wonder Woman.

Barbara Ann Minerva had been Simon Stagg’s long-suffering assistant for over 7 years, but when Stagg had to choose between escaping the Savage Lands with the ancient magical relic or his assistant’s life, he did not hesitate in casting her aside. Abandoned in the primeval Savage Lands, Barbara Ann Minerva succumbed to her wounds. But the ancient magic that permeated the archipelago, the same magic that had empowered its flora and fauna to survive ice ages and meteor impacts, seeped into Barbara’s now still form. The magic shaped her as it did all the creatures on the islands, awakening the forgotten memories of her primordial ancestors. She awoke reborn. Transformed. She was no longer Barbara. Whereas Barbara was weak and fragile, she was now strong, unbreakable. Whereas Barbara was anxious and fearful, she was now brave, undaunted. Whereas Barbara grasped desperately for purpose and acceptance, she was born knowing exactly who she was and what she must do. She is the Chief Cheetah, the Primeval Avenger and Arbiter of Nature’s Wrath. She would amass the powers and creatures of these islands, lay siege to civilization, and return the islands’ sacred relic. She would remind humanity of what they had long forgotten: that the wilds were to be feared.
