They did not know what the hell they're doing. Also, 'fresh'? Well no, it's more like throwing every artstation/deviantart idea of "kool alien place with rocks and mushrooms" all into one generic blend (but ignoring any *good* Xen fan art). And it's not their business to mess with the lore.

 Certainly the new one has flaws (namely the performance) but I think its unfair to dismiss it as "generic" since one can view the original as a "generic floating alien world low jpg backgrounds" Also I don't understand how they messed with the lore. I think they added to it with the Protozoan's and the charging crystals.

Its fine. I do understand your issues. It can be jarring for those looking for a similar HL1 styled level. I just have a somewhat different view. Honestly Xen is also my favorite but it was pretty janky. I think BM's version does improve a lot on the old flaws while adding their own flavor. I think my favorite parts is seeing all of the human habitation. Plus I am looking forward to seeing the Nihilanth fight because of the code leak here  i.redd.it/qsgnba4jjp731.jpg since its based on the old Laidlaw drafts
