So, uh, have you asked Valve about making their houndeye into a drawing? Because if we are going to follow your logic all you did was adapt their work into some other medium.....
You took inspiration from Valve's original design and decided to draw it in your own style, thats cool, but i don't see how his models are any different, he thought your art looked pretty good and decided to make something similar, its not a carbon-copy, even if the general feel is somewhat the same it isn't a 100% match and he put his own ideas into it, so whats the problem anyway?

Valve allows non-commercial fan creations. Valve/Ted Backman hold the rights to the concept of houndeye itself and Haf-Life universe, but I hold rights to this one specific illustration and these exact, specific designs and I gave no permission to use them.
If he puts his "ideas", it falls under "Modifying or editing a creative work without proper permission."

Well while what you are saying does make sense and i do agree that he should have asked, i'am still not convinced, he didn't modify or edit your drawing in any means, he made models from scratch inspired by your work, the modelling, texturing, everything minus the original concept is his original work, and i do understand that you want to protect your creation, which is really well done by the way, but perhaps thats a bit too much?Β

At what levels of Copyright Infrigment am I ? I did not use your textures , I did not use your meshes , I did not use your base colors. If I had used the base mesh of the original Houndeye and painted it in cyan would you say that I adapted one of your works ? I would have given the meshes to you bacause I really wanted you to do the textures but I saw that you are busy with other project and I did not want to bother you. Plus my work is purely creative and it's not intended for comercial use. This made me think that you intended to use your work for your mod but I realized that your team has already made some houndeye meshes and I though that it will not be a big problem to make my own. I just did not want my meshes to be compared to yours. In the end my question is:
Do you think that you would have given me the permission to use your artwork at all?

You didn't tell about antlion king, you didn't tell about houndeyes, your reasoning for it doesn't change the fact.
And that is a standalone piece that never had anything to do with DI.

I have a headcanon that the Hunters are Houndeye synths.Β Β

That actually makes a lot of sense. After all, the Hunter sounds are similar to the sounds Houndeyes make when they charge.

Thinking further on that, i now believe Hunters are Gargantua/Houndeye hybrids and may have been created by Nihilanth as prototypes but the Combine found them and added their tech to them.Β Β

Hunters are dark blue-gray and have vestigial arms like the Gargantua and movements and anatomy of the Houndeye, and we do know that Nihilanth was running his lab making experiments in Interloper, like the grunts in vats.Β

Valve put parallels between Combine and Xen for a reason, i'm pretty sure. Even Nihilanth and Advisors, pale, enslaved, psychic minds, i honestly think the Advisors in HL2 are what was left of the Nihilanths.Β Β

This is true, but if you really look at Nihilanth's design, it looked rather humanoid.
Headcanon of mine is that the Nihilanths or Shu,ulathoi were at peace with all life and the Universal Union was established to help the weaker life forms, but that parasite thought mentioned in Breengrub, took over them, corrupted the Union and feeds on universes to grow bigger, Gman was a surviving Shu,ulathoi and uses Humanity to infiltrate the parasite, in order to free all slaves, including his grub kin, making him, the Grub Man.Β Β

In my Half-Life headcanon, the Advisors or Shu,ulathoi were related to the Nihilanth of HL1, Gman is also related, being the human host body used by a Shu,ulathoi, the relation to the telepathic grub race explains his actual name, as i said, Grub Man. Or if that's too out there, maybe he was the Combine government official, in charge of the Universal Union, before the parasite (mentioned in the Laidlaw breengrub twitter lore if you don't already know) took over, resulting in the Combine Empire. Multiverse hyper militarized infection, hence the medical jargon the Overwatch typically uses to address events or situations.Β
