Description
PLEASE READ BEFORE ANYTHING!!!Firstly, it is NOT a flash animation. Only the loading bar thingy was done in flash and i DONT KNOW anything about flash AT ALL. so i spent like 5 hours in coding the loading bar. Please be patient while the animation loads.
Secondly, please read the following backstory to help you understand what this is about:
In my alternate universe, Hulk is a goofy guy whose strength and anger is his only plus point. And Toph is, well, Toph. She's badass as ever. Now they meet and Hulk provokes her. See what happens! xD
Inspired by the famous Avengers scene where Hulk gets it out on Thor, i spent like three days in making this.
>>>TOPH IS STANDING ON A RAISED ROCKY PLATFORM. Yeah, that;s why she's the height of Hulk.
>>>WHY DOESNT TOPH USE EARTHBENDING? Cause she's badass.
I hope you read all that, and I hope you like this piece. I made a LOT of effort into working on it and PLEASE oh PLEASE dont redistribute it ANYWHERE!!!

A wonderful piece of work! The limited animation works really well. It's a nice, simple cartoon style. (look how well South Park has done, and that's even simpler). I like the way the hulks head snaps to the side, holds, then snaps back. It's good, and it communicates well. You've used a couple of nice holds in the piece, and you build good anticipation. I like the way that the girl brings her arm up just slightly, and you see the hulk frown, and you can anticipate what's going to happen next. That's a great example of anticipation in animation!
Small details I like - I love the speed lines when the girl punches, the characters blinking, the hulk picking his nose, and the girls hair flowing around - they are all nice extra touches that give it real finish.
The lip syncing is almost right. Your mouth frames are drawn well, but there are too many (my first lip sync was much worse). It is tempting to enunciate every syllable, but in actual fact if you watch people talking or look at yourself in the mirror, you can see that our lips don't move as much as we think. Generally lip syncing reads better when there is less movement. Also, you're probably aware, but the lines go a bit thick then thin, and that detracted a little.
Except for the thick and thin in the lines, I actually really like the simple drawing style and limited animation. This is really good! I look forward to seeing more from you and hope that you are only encouraged by this, as my overall impression is that of being impressed.

Honestly, I really like this short. Of course you could use more frames for better fluidity and you could smooth the lanes and color to make it more 'clean' looking but honestly it isn't necessary. The expressions and the character in this piece are actually pretty good! I really enjoy the action scene.
Speaking of professional animation, I have a couple 'critiques'. Please keep in mind these are only if you wanted to put a lot more effort into this piece.
First, cleaning the lines a little more and adding more inbetweens (more frames) could really help this flow. Secondly, when she punches the Hulk you could apply the squash and stretch law and hesitation/anticipation and have him seem to fold over her fist before he goes flying off screen. Example: I couldn't find any good reference in the few minutes on You Tube but think about how one cartoon character desks another and their fist seem to sink into that other character before the impact really takes effect.
Vision: 4.5/5 - A cool idea and you clearly knew what you wanted and you achieved it.
Originality: 3/5 - It's not the first thing like this I've ever seen and there wasn't a whole lot of things happen here, BUT the concept with these two characters was a very original idea that I think made a fun scene.
Technique: 3/5 - You clearly haven't been doing animations professionally and no one expects you to make something totally mind blowing. This was a really great piece, especially for using a few frames in Photoshop! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="
" title="
(Big Grin)"/>
Impact: 4/5 This thing was freak'n hilarious regardless of everything else. Even not looking at it I can see it very clearly. I was happy to watch it the first time and I wasn't sad when it looped. The first time through I laughed out loud from the sight of that little girl decking the Hulk.
Those are my only real critiques, but again they are not really necessary. Good luck on your next one!

hehe yes, i looked up about stretch and squash.... I will add it to the next animation >w< And also all the things what you said, i will keep in mind and continue to improve non stop!!

First of all, I don't know how you happen to have over 150 favorites and not one critique because this is just plain amazing. Now, as for the actual critique-- Everyone about this is amazing. Vision: The actual animation is hilarious and shows how great both characters are (especially Toph). Originality: I've seen countless people relate Toph to the Hulk but this is the first time that I've seen it used in such an amazing way of completely switching their roles and still making Toph the awesome one. Technique: It's obvious you spent a lot of time making this just by reading the description and it definitely shows, especially as your first ever animation. Impact: The impact of this was just great and, like I said before, on the hilarious side with a great bow of justice towards both characters. Honestly, all and all, you did a fabulous job!

That's a heaps good 2D experiment! The limited animation works reall, really well here. It's a nice, simple cartoon style. (look how well south park has done, and that's even simpler). I like the way the hulks head snaps to the side, holds, then snaps back. It's good, and it communicates well. You've used a couple of nice holds in the piece, and you build good anticipation. I like the way that the girl brings her arm up just slightly, and you see the hulk frown, and you can really anticipate what's going to happen next. That's a great example of anticipation in animation!
I love the speed lines you use too when the girl punches. All of the animation is done in this really well, and you even included some blinking to give the characters move life, you've got the hulk picking his nose, and the girls hair has a little bit of extra movement in it which is nice.
The lip syncing is almost right, but not quite. Your mouth frames are drawn well, but there are too many (my first lip sync was much worse). It is tempting to enunciate every syllable, but in actual fact if you watch people talking or look at yourself in the mirror, you can see that our lips don't move as much as we think. Generally lip syncing reads better when there is less movement - when there's too much movement they call it crazy mouth There's just a little bit of that here. Also, you're probably aware, but the lines go a bit think then thin, and that detracted a little.
Except for the thick and thin in the lines, I actually really like the simple drawing style and limited animation. This is really good! I look forward to seeing more from you and hope that you are only encouraged by this, as my overall impression is that of being impressed.

Thank you so much for yet another in-depth analysis of my work! To be honest, I thought you would not like this animation, as you are such an amazing animtor yourself. But i am glad that you looked at Green in terms of both quality and fun, which not many people have the sense to do. I loved both the wonderful critiques i recieved for Green and this adds as a third! ^_^
Indeed, I agree with all that you said about "crazy mouth" xD It was the first time in my life that i had ever done something like this, so i was bound to go wrong here and there xD I will keep thta in mind while i am working on my next animation for sure!
Yet again, this was a tough work, as i did every frame with a mouse, and that might also be the reason for the thick-thin change xP
And yet again, thanks from the bottom of my heart for thinking this was impressive; i hope to "blow your mind" with my next one xDDD
