Description
WARNING: VERY CONTROVERSIAL STAMP, not the first time I have done this. Check my Fluttershy gets too much hate stamp.Made this stamp because I am sick and tired of people whining about reboots and remakes just to try to make the new generation be bored to death by watching a classic movie that has an inevitable reboot for today or maybe the near future.
Don't know what Rebootphobia is? Let me explain, Rebootphobia is the fear and hatred of a remake or a reboot of a classic that was good and it was part of their childhood. The victims for rebootphobic hate are The Powerpuff Girls, Pac-Man, Littlest Pet Shop, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Ghostbusters, mainly because of how it changes the franchise's canon or what they loved about it as a whole. (Which it started the whole "childhood ruined bullshit" or other reasons I can't rebuff just to save a reboot that IMO is good.) At least people didn't complain about the Planet of the Apes reboot movies, Captain America in the MCU (even if it isn't a reboot), Battlestar Galactica and Next year's Power Rangers reimagining flick with Saban, the Temple Hill dudes and Dean Israelite involved, even if people complain about the modernization. (Mainly because of not recycling as I heard from anyone)
Rebootphobia has gone too far. Thinking that a childhood is ruined because of a new thing ignoring what you liked? Bullshit, it's not like your childhood is flying away anytime soon. You can still watch them and consider them better than today's incarnation, and not give a shit about what "kills" your childhood when I think it's immortal to you or anyone else. Oh, andΒ Original stuff isn't easy as pie, There are also "original" movies that are done as bad as the remakes. If you think originality is easy, then try to make one and see if it's successful or not.
Also, sorry to make you mad, but the classic Ghostbusters are overvalued. I am sorry, but it is to me.
EDIT: One rebootphobe made me write more as if there are more reasons to dislike reboots, especially the bad ones. Think before you bash the new generation's tastes.

That word doesn't exist. I believe it is just a stupid word used to insult people who just dislike the PPG reboot. Sorry.

I don't like nostalgiatards, even though I don't care much for the PPG reboot. But I don't think the new generation of kids deserve to be shat on just because a reboot is bad.

This is an ultimate example on why I always try reboots of my non favorite cartoons and my favorite cartoons, for instance, DuckTales, I hated the original DuckTales from 1987 and called it an insult to Walt Disney for coping other cartoons and for treating Hewey, Dewey and Louie like shitΒ and later consider the reboot of DuckTales from 2017 to be superior to the original and one of the best Disney cartoons of all time.
There are also reboots that are as good as the original such as Evil Dead (2013), Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated &Β Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012).
There is also one reboot I'm neutral with (PPG 2016)).
And there is one that is truly the worst (Ben 10 (2016)).
But I don't say that childhood ruined BS or even horseshit reason, I always organize those in the right category.

Unfortunately, I think mindlessly swallowing every reboot ever made and being overly trendy and retrophobic is also bad as well. The classic Ghostbusters maybe overvalued, but the new reboot was a complete fail and it completely alienated the fan base with itβs pro-feminist agenda. People do have rational reasons at times for hating reboots. Did you enjoy the new Total Recall and Robocop reboots?
And BTW, enabling the laziness of the industry to just rely on banalΒ reboots and remakes instead of challenging them to be creative and original is not going to revolutionize or improve the situation, itβs just going to strengthen the criticism against them. And BTW I also get sick of that overly used βruined my childhoodβΒ ad hominem fallacy to shut down anybody when they bring up legitimate criticisms against the faults and flaws of supposed reboots and remakes. If the new generation is going to be a bunch of douchebag hipsters then theyβre really just being degenerates themselves as much as the excessive nostalgia seeking generation.

You may have a point, but not everything original can mean good.
Look at films like Gods of Egypt or Taken for example, it's not based on anything, but they weren't as critically acclaimed as other original films like for example, Colossal.

Well thatβs the process. Sometimes you get a hit and sometimes you donβt. The point is they tried. And at times they bring on something unique that can define the current decade like what defined previous ones before it. The point is, that having the industry just relying on reboots and remakes as a crutch robs the decade of uniqueness. Iβm not against all reboots and remakes, they just better be nuanced instead of being exploitive, lethargic, and uninspired quick cash grab works.

You know when reboots work the best? When they're improving on properties that weren't really that good to begin with, and make them into something spectacular. There isn't much to lose, so it's the prime opportunity to do so! In fact, here's a few things I think are in sore need of good reboots, things that have the potential to be truly great...
- Captain Planet
- Waterworld
- Howard the Duck
- Spawn
- He-Man/Masters of the Universe

Heh, thanks! ^//^ I appreciate the sentiment... Oh yes! And need I even mention the cinematic presence of the Transformers? Seriously, Michael Bay's buttfucked them for far too long. Isn't it about time we get a real big-screen adaptation of the Autobots' and Decepticons' million-year civil war brought to our world?

Some reboots were actually very... um...
Bad.
PPG 2016 and TTG are two to name, but most of these reboots you mentioned (PMATGA and LPS 2012 mainly) are actually very popular and not very much hated by the media.
But like people said in the comments, what you're saying is that "all of the people who hate reboots hate them for a certain reason".Β
It makes you just as badΒ Β

TTG is a spin-off.
And even then, I still hold to PPG2016 being better than the boring original show.

I like the idea of reboots/remakes/adaptations because I like seeing what the new writer(s) wanted to do.Β If I end up hating them, I can watch the version I did like, but I will always approach remakes/reboots/adaptations with an open mind.

Good.
Some reboots tend to do badly like TTG and PPG 16, others do the opposite like Voltron, MLP and the upcoming Ducktales.
