Description Hey look, it's a painting for a liberal arts class. That means I spent approximately one evening on this thing. It was supposed to be representative of a mental illness in some way, props to you if you can tell me which one it is or how. Seriously, I came up with most of the symbolism for it after I'd finished it and had to write the paper that went with the piece.

Looks like something out of Changeling the Lost, some uber creepy hedge gate. Either way if I saw this mirror in the forest, I'd get my butt out of there quick.

It kind of reminded me the Harry Potter mirror at first, but then I snapped out of it. This mirror looks way cooler - It's in a tree!

Thanks. That was one of the things I attributed a meaning to after the painting was done and I needed more for my paper.

Did you have the teacher that looks a little like Sigorney Weaver?

If you factor in the super curly short hair and stick thin, then yes. Does she still do tv shows for half the class? Easiest class ever.

Yeah, She also just has a really super-angular face. Yeah, she shows movies or has guest speakers for like half of every class.

I'm going to say that disorder where you think everyone you know has been replaced with someone that is not them.

Really shitty at explaining it...

I also forgot the name of it, but that's what I'm going with.

That sounds so much more interesting than what it was supposed to be. I'll have to go look that up.

Kind of remindes me of memory loss?

Very great work; I love the peices that speak so many words in itself, instead of being self-explanitory.

Actually it was Narcissism. XD The great thing about projects like this is that you can draw something then pretty much say it's anything and no one will know. I started realizing that it looked more like Schizophrenia about halfway through painting it. Actually I can see how it would look like memory loss too.

Thank you!

Oh, xD
I just kind of fingured that the tree looks like an oak; A symbol of wisdom, and the mirror with the people remind me of memories being entrapped, with the tree holding it at the base. The people seem turned away and distant, so I figured: Alzheimer's or some memory loss?

My pleasure. Very nice concept. The kind of "conceptual art" that this is gets my brain to actually try to process things. xP

Oh wow. That's good. Honestly I like that explanation for it better than mine.

What I said was something along the lines of narcissists don't necessarily like themselves so much as they like the 'reflection' of themselves, how people react to them. That's why their are people in the mirror. They're in silhouette because the narcissist doesn't care about the people at all just about the attention they're getting (also I totally didn't want to spend a bunch of time rendering out figures >.>). The ornate frame on the mirror represents their high opinion of themselves. I think I also had something about the trees and how they were dead. Ummm... representing dead empathy I think.

xD

Yeah, now that I see it, that does make alot of accurate sense.
I didn't take long to render the figures in my head: Conceptual art is something I pick up on quickly, like poems and riddles.
