That is why Your artworks are so great, You put so much work into them and aren't affraid of scrapping everything. Also thank You very much for this, some of them look much better for me. Especially the first "single" eye design.

I've got to ask- is there significance behind the presence or absence of the glowing oval construct in the metahuman's chest, besides stylistic choice?
It almost seems like the oval is a distinct object from the rest of the body, and that (I'm just wildly conjecturing here) it could be the actual seat of consciousness for the human, able to be transferred between suitable bodies at will. The body itself, when not inhabited by a big glowing chest-brain, could be like a humongous drone capable of carrying out complex tasks autonomously. In most of the progress pictures which involve destruction or active resource harvesting, the "slot" on the chest looks to be empty, suggesting a drone that has gone rogue and is going around attacking intelligence-bearing planets.
Again, wild conjecture.

The chest diverse is rather like the deflector dish from Star Trek: A multi spectrum energy reception and emission focusing device. The seat of intelligence can be moved throughout the body, and divided or consolidated as needed or desired.

Panels 13 - 17 are awesome, 13 being my favourite, I just like how each panel has its own emotion and impact.

Thanks for posting this. Sometimes the process is more inspiring than the finished piece itself. I like some of the ideas you abandoned, like the rod-like wings in images 5 and 6. Personally, I think 15/16 is the strongest version. There is a sense of mystery in the interaction between the bizarre creatures that lends itself to narrative storytelling, rather than abstract surrealism.
