Description
3rd part of Dead Air. I heard a Witch and the music got louder around the supply area. I didn't know if she was by the door so I wanted to take a peek by breaking the glass. In the bloody corner of the window. I meleed and--you guessed it-- I startled her. Couldn't get away.What made matters worse was the fact that the AI did squat to save me. Francis had an excuse (why he's not in the pic) because he was pounced on by a Hunter and the AI did nothing for him either.
I would play with actual people but I still don't have the money to buy a good computer yet. Needless to say, the title says it all.

AI sucks, sometimes they even get into your way when you try to snipe off the Infected, ending up me incapacitating them... >_>

you know the game hates you when:
-AI ignores you.
-when the boss infected saves you(AI).
-when your dying and everyone is dead and the director sends a tank after you.
-the director wants you dead period.
-when the boss infected kill off your team and leave you to live...
-and they taunt you...
-and they don't attack.

Me and my brother where playing L4D on our Xbox once and the AIs decided to become pacifists. They wouldn't shoot anything. It was pretty funny, but we still died.

ahh yes this has happened to me loads of times... they also help me at the worst times for e.g: AI Louis heals me while my friend who's playing as a smoker makes a quick get away... DAMN YOU AI!!

Playing online is actually easier on your pc than offline. As the A.I. takes up more processing power than online functions.
(or so i have heard)
If its running slow reduce your graphical settings, (like the shader) or put on some anti-aliaswhatever.

I play single game too. This hapenns to me everytime I play... its so frustating. Not only I have to watch for them, rescue them.. healing them.. they just abandon me every chance they get.. its like they hate me or something.. maybe.. my computer hates me i dont know!

What difficulty was the Witch killing you on?
Every time this happens to me, they kill the Witch and save me 
They don't save me from Smokers or Hunters though. I always incap or kill my teammates when a Witch is around :3

I was doing Easy because I wanted to go for the "Unbreakable" achievement. Because I have poor playing capapbilities to play with friends, I couldn't do the cheap way to get that achivement so I played single player.
That was kind of how I felt for this part. I didn't want to fight back because then I'd need to heal and lose the achievement so I let her kill me. BUT THEY COULD HAVE AT LEAST TRIED TO SAVE ME AND FRANCIS!!
The AI are almost completely hopeless in Versus when I play. The first Versus I played with friends, it was Dead Air and we got to the drop off point where you can't get back up. My friend Smoker'd me and the AI couldn't save me because the dimwits dropped down already and then went on when I got incapped. I really, really hate the AI.

The achievement AIs are completely useless for is Nothing Special. My friend got Untouchables on his first try on Death Toll on Easy with AI... I was P^$$*" off that I'm still trying.

I just realised, they AI is only good to startle Witches in solo, deplete Tank health on solo, Infected fodder and they heal and give you peels for free...

Indeed. However, that does not come in handy when going for the "Do Not Disturb" achievement. Never solo Expert unless you're pretty good and you have a good computer.

I managed to get the "Do Not Disturb" without realising after the finale, but I paid attention on the same campaign when attempting it.
I can solo Expert, but I can only get to the Finale and that's it...

Depending on the campaign I can solo most on Expert. The only one I haven't tried is Dead Air and that's because of the finale. I've gotten to the sewer part of No Mercy, the town part of Death Toll and the Trainyard portion of Blood Harvest because the AI fail.

Try speedrunning some solo runs on Expert, you can be surprised how far you can get before you die.

Unfortunately for me, the AI feel scorn for me on my regular speed, let alone me trying to finish without them.

Of course, it's probably revenge because earlier in that part of the level, before we even got out of the saferoom, I heard a Tank. He was around the corner where all the scaffolding was after the thin alley where all the "Tank Bowling" stuff was so we couldn't set him off yet. I even went bugger all and shot at the Tank and got his attention and I ran back towards the saferoom. I stopped right in front of the door and looked back to see the Tank coming around the corner. I knew he was about to take a swing at a car so I ducked in the saferoom just as the car incapped all three AI. The car was still there so I stayed in the saferoom while he killed them and tried to Tank Bowl me. Fortunately is was Easy so he died really quickly. I realized I was all alone and I heard Hunter music to top it all off. I crept around the corner and saw nothing. Then I saw the AI respawn and I quickly ran to the closet and low and behold, the Hunter was right around the corner. Fortunately I ninja-dodged him and killed him and a couple more zombies to rescue the AI. But then 10 minutes later, this happened. They're so unforgiving.

Oh, it's happened to me plenty of times. It gets very frustrating seeing yourself getting mauled or choked and the AI are spazzing right next to you without doing anything to save you. But it's even worse when they don't even try to help you out when you're in trouble.
