Seliat offers to let her ride on one of their familiars. It’s a matter of convenience, really. They’re much bigger, and faster than her, so she sees no reason to refuse.
She’s cautious at first, the worry of falling off at the forefront of her mind— not that she would really get hurt, but the hesitance is still there.
That is, until they actually get going.
It’s so much fun. She laughs in delight as the manta ray flies through the water. The space around her is illuminated by Seliat’s familiars, and the journey could not be more different from before. The glowing string follows them (well, really Seliat— Reverie has no idea where they’re going either) and makes twisting shapes above them as it cuts through the water.
(She finds herself just the slightest bit disappointed when they reach their destination.)
As they watch it depart, she is still curious about what the glowing string is— A creature of the depths, for sure, but it must have a name.
…Perhaps she will ask Fayetta later. There’s a 50-50 chance she’ll end up learning about some obscure mythical creature instead, but neither she nor Seliat know, so a coin toss is better than nothing.
Out of the corner of her eye, she spots a small flare of light— different from the soft glow of Seliat’s familiars, this light is bright and dazzling, like a small spark of fire lit underwater. It seems to hover briefly, before flitting away.
Seliat asks her if they should follow, and she agrees.
