Description
+ Wanted to post this real quick since it's one of my favorite shots of the day! This is Thayne (my childhood best friend) and his fiancee, Erika. They came to visit for the weekend and thought it'd be a good chance to do a proper rootphotography-style engagement session.+ Anyways, this was towards the very end of the day when the rain was starting to pick up. Jensey and I walked atop this bridge and had Thayne & Erika walk towards and below us. They stopped a little closer to us, loved on each other, and this shot was born. I love the rain dropped pavement behind them; without it, this photo wouldn't be what it is.
+ The only thing I'm not particularly happy about, though, is the combination of their coats. Especially in b&w, it makes them look much larger than they really are.
+ Edit: Vignetting and curves.
+ Enjoy!

What a wonderful shot Natefoo!
I'm with ~shimmerella , I took the coats "melting into each other" as a positive rather than a negative, just for the fact that it's kinda like '2 lives melding into one union' I think it's rather sweet actually.
I love the raindrops behind them, it's a great, interesting background that doesn't steal the limelight from the couple.
The only thing I'm not particularily fussed on is the vignetting, I think just the simple black framing you've also got on there would've been enuff.

Reminds me of lyrics from Les Miserables:
"in the rain the pavement shines like silver...."
Beautiful. One of the best I've seen from you in a long time.

I've been considering what you said about the combination of their coats. They almost melt together in B&W. I guess that's your point, but to me, especially given their pose, it seems a positive rather than negative quality. He's got her arms wrapped around her like a security blanket, his coat overlaps hers some. I don't know - the coat meshing thing fits very well with the feeling of security that the pose invokes.

Very nicely framed, and the patterned pavement does definitely make the picture unique, very natural position, the break in the line helps alot with eye line movements. a little flat, but good none the less..
good work, ps. i will post some more stuff when i think its good enough, but thanks for the reminder

I like the coats, I think they're kind of necessary for the composition of the photo. Great work, keep it up.

aw. this is realllyyyy pretty, Nate. Like I was telling Jensey, my sister is getting married in September. I so wish you guys would come up and do her wedding portraits!!! She's already hired someone though. aw well. if you guys ever get up to PA let me know.
this is really beautiful, though. I do love the contrast from the background to their jackets. I also like the horizon line towards the top in the pavement. it draws my eye to it... and since their faces are all snugglywuggly it's adorable
another great shot! Hope your wedding plans are coming along nicely and happy late easter to both of you!!

Nice photo! Love the composition and angle you took the shot from. I agree with you that the background really helps to make this photo what it is. I like how the background is darker around the edge and light in the middle to sort of act as a frame. Nice moment you captured as well.

I'm glad you like the vignetting; I was really hoping it'd accentuate their figures.

Vignetting, so that's what it's called...learned something new. Anyways, you're welcome! Very nice shot.
