Ah yes the "Proto-Alien". It looked kind a ... smaller and also a bit different to the "perfected" version which we now from the old Alien-movies.

I have seen this movie today and it was awesome. And my favorite scene was the last scene with this Alien. A wonderfull surprise for a wonderfull movie

it's the proto-alien which later evolved into the better known xenomorph.
the engineers orginally planned it to e a bioweapon, and this was just the prototype.

I like how the size and position of the jaw is just right that it can line up with either set of teeth. That must have been a nightmare to figure out.

I wonder if the reason why that giant killed the team and ripped the android's head off was because he saw them as a pitiful and failed experiment. Sorta like "you pitiful, failed specimens! I should rid you from existence!" Anyway cool art.

From what I've heard Ridley Scott also denied 'Aliens' as canon when making Prometheus. I thought that was a good choice.

First off Prometheus take place in 2093, and the Alien movie takes place about 400-500 years later. That is enough time for a xenomorph to evolve its genetic strain. As for the Alien being the queen, it probably is. People forget that Aliens can change their gender if there is a population crisis or there are no other queens around.
But anyway, beautiful art, it looks fantastic.

Prometheus takes place 30 years before Alien. 400-500 years is not enough for an animal to evolve. The Deacon creature is probably a different species, but related to the xenomorphs.

It is of the same species, but since it is born from an Engineer host instead of a Human one, it has different characteristics than the one shown in Alien. It has been explained that the Xenomorph takes on bits and pieces of its host when it is in placed inside them by the facehugger, or in this one's case; a Trilobite. (which also may have added to the change of appearance)

Human = Engineer (on the genetic level), because Engineer DNA is 100% match with human DNA. A xeno born from an Engineer should look very similar to the "human" xeno, but it doesn't. Even the runner xeno from Alien 3, born from a dog (an ox in the director's cut) is more like the human xenomorph. I guess it makes your argument invalid.

But you're conveniently ignoring the other half of his argument. This creature wasn't born from a traditional face hugger either. Not only that, but even if the engineer's DNA is a match, doesn't mean that it's 100% exactly like a human. Yours and my DNA could be considered a match for the same species, but we could look very different. A fly's DNA is like 98% similar to ours...
The movie probably wasn't supposed to literally be a "this is exactly where the alien came from" but rather, a glimpse of the process in which a xenomorph could come about.

Who cares? The fact that the creature that implanted the embryo looks different just supports my point of view. There is no evidence the "xeno" shown in Prometheus is the same species as the xenomorph. If it was, the filmmakers wouldn't call this guy "the Deacon", I suppose.

Is it wrong that when this bursts from the Engineer my initial reaction was: "Awwww, it's so cute"?
Aaargh. That movie made more questions than it answered. My theory is that either the Proto is a primordial Xenomorph that hasn't adapted into it's "perfect" form, or that the whole life cycle was FUBAR'ed by the C-Section and we end up with some off-shoot of the Xenomorph. GAAAH, too many questions
At least we know more about the original Xenomorph.

My theory on this creature is this- Did you notice that in Alien 3, the alien had dog-like attributes because the chestburster had used a dog for its host? Or how in Alien vs. Predator: Requiem, the main alien had predator-like features because it came from a predator? Maybe this alien at the end of Prometheus only looks the way it does because it was grown from inside of an engineer, and alien only looked the way it did in the other films because it had burst from an actual human. Then again, this is only my theory, and it has some holes. For example- why would this look different if the engineer DNA is identical to a human's? I'm still trying to figure this one out. Excellent drawing, by the way.

Remember, the trilobyte in Prometheus was birthed from a sterile female through sex...it had to pass through different phases before eventually becoming the Deacon...the engineer's DNA was a DNA match, but evolution has changed human's DNA as well...if following the movie's plot, we evolved from aquatic life, in which the opening scene's an engineer disintegrated and DNA structure changed to give birth to new species ...so, we can only speculate that when more are made, they will gradually change, kind of how humans differ from one another

Since "Prometheus" was billed as a sort of prequel to the "Alien" movies, the metamorphosis is of course part of the storyline. Great work, though!

This IS NOT A BABY QUEEN! This is the Proto-Xenomorph. Also known as The Deacon for sum reason. its not a queen for many reasons. no tubes; no crest/crown; no xtra set of arms and no tail. Now 4 the artwork. I give 9 outa 10!
