Yup. Something a leeeetle different.I fail at making things scary..I do.
But I just LOVE drawing Knuckles, he's my ultimate favourite Sonic character and he's being given bad reputations with stupid fans who think he's gullible, in love with Rouge or Julie-Su and a bit of a grumpard.
WHY CAN'T PEOPLE JUST LET SONIC BOYS BE SINGLE? IS THAT HARD?

Well, there are a lot of different characters for one thing. And if you thought Sonic Archie was a jerk, well, you ain't seen nothing, because Fleetway Sonic is even worse. I've only read the first thirty or so so far and have not yet encountered Knuckles, but from what I can tell Sally is relegated to a minor role, Amy comes into her own a lot sooner, and Tails is not only a little annoying, but he pretends that he's Sonic and Sonic is his sidekick in his letters back home and ends up having to save his people's butts a lot. Super Sonic is also completely nutso and hates everyone, including his friends.
It's pretty different.

Lol no actually they ran for quite a long time, and they're actually quite funny. But they stopped making them because they cut the budget and the comic then had less pages, and then the writing got all screwed up, and then the higher ups were like you know, that's enough.

It's fine if you have a fan character. My best friend has two. But you're right, the thing I don't like about it is that most of them are Mary-Sues with amazing powers etc. and then they throw them in shipfic or high school fic of some sort. If they were Sonic-esque and not drawn from bases and dollmakers, maybe I'd have a better opinion of them. But as of now, I've only ever seen two truly unique fan characters.

While that's a part of it, with some characters you can see aspects of their personality even when they're not really doing anything. Like you can kind of tell a bit about Sonic, Tails, etc., just by how the artist draws them, even if they're being drawn into a theme picture. A good example is ~Carurisa , who is doing the 100 Themes Challenge right now. She is adhering to the themes, yes, but she's also letting the personality shine through for the most part.
Of course I could have entirely misinterpreted what you meant by theme. If so, please ignore the novel.

I think a lot of it depends on the popularity of the artist. If you have a 'following', so to speak, more people will go along with your character.

Also, I hate to say, but she's not got Rouge boobs, she isn't part of a pairing and she's a teenage girl with no adult/alluring features. That's also a big big factor, I believe.
