Description
Bleah. These days I sometimes need reassurance that I can still remember how to draw, and the results tend to end up on my Latin readings.I can't believe that this guy hasn't already made an appearance in my gallery, so HAVE SOME JUDGE CLAUDE FROLLO. This will not be the last of him!
Have I mentioned how much I love this pious hypocrite? Well, I'm mentioning it now. I looooooove this character. He's probably the most complicated and realistic of Disney baddies - we've seen a couple similarly 'intellectual' villains out for power and money, but never one brought low by carnal desire, of all things. In a Disney film! Never mind one who actually thinks he's carrying out God's will on earth, one burning city at a time...
...and that is why you should go watch "Hellfire" and marvel at what went flying over your head at age 6.
And another thing: the hands. The voice. GUH.

Yeah disney is for all audiences, the movies are great when you are young but as you get older you can see all the deeper meanings and it makes the story even more interesting. You draw him very well by the way. He's one of my favorite disney villains as well, him and Hades.

Spread the Frollo goodness!! The 'sex hair' one is hot. In the top left corner, it looked like he was flipping someone off.

Awesome. Personally my favorite villain is Scar (major Lion King fan ) and second fav is Zira (from the LK2), but Frollo's up there. He is a very good (err, confusing choice of words) villain, and actually scared me very much when I was a child....probably why I didn't like watching Hunchback as much as Lion King...hmmm..

YES YES YES. Best Disney villain ever. They actually bothered to make him multi-dimensional, and the fact that he thinks he's doing the right thing is just so realistic. I didn't realize how much subtext was in this movie until I was older, but man. I appreciate it so much now. "Hellfire" is the best song ever.
You captured all his expressions perfectly.

YES TO ALL OF THE ABOVE.
And thank you!
I firmly believe that this is a movie for grown-ups, with talking gargoyles and a happy ending thrown in for the kids.

THIS MADE MY DAY. And it's only 10:19am. And I'm excited that there is more Frollo on the horizon. The other day Laverne's voice kept going through my head saying "Frollo's nose is long and he wears a dress."
omg sex hair whaaaaat

"I knew it - pay up!"
And
"Shall we review your alphabet today?"
(Man, Frollo would have loved the Gashlycrumb Tinies - "B is for Basil assaulted by bears...")
OMG we have such excellent taste in ze mens! Which reminds me that you should see THIS: [link]

I LOVE Kate Beaton! I want to jump in a time machine and guy-watch with the Brontes. It would be so entertaining.
And I REALLY want to get my hands on a copy of the Gashlycrumb Tinies in the worst way.

I know! She is like my comic hero.
Btw, forget what I said about thwarting the hell week - I'm currently losing my mind over this essay on John Donne and George Herbert.
Now I'll go back to banging my head against the wall.

Ugh. That's exactly how I feel when I try to understand my philosophy texts, and attempt to write essays about them that make sense. Philosophy is so not my thing D:

I completely agree! Frollo is the best villain Disney has ever done. There is just something so incredibly charming about him even tho he is so evil. Hellfire shows how vulnerable he really is, it also makes him stand out from the other villains. I love the way you drew Frollo, the expressions are awesome! Love the sex hair one...yummy!
LOL @ quote! It's from "Withnail & I", hehe!

Yeah - without that chink in his armour I don't think he would be half so intriguing.
One of the reasons I love "Hellfire" (besides the kick ass visuals)is that it comes straight out of left field - there's that second of "Wait, did Disney just actually go there? Yep, they totally went there. *pause* This is SO COOL."
Also, it's kind of funny - this cold intellectual who totally missed the boat on teenage hormones all of a sudden getting hit over the head with them all at once. So how does he deal? Sets things on fire!
Yes you win! Cake and tea for you!

Brilliantly done, you've been able to capture the Judge's expressions perfectly. I second your GUH when it comes to the hands and voice. When I was a 6 year old, I used to love this film, and always hated when he died at the end. I watched it almost eleven year later with my younger sister and when it came to 'hellfire', my reaction was: O_O They put what in now?! Wow, I missed a lot!.
Again, great work.

I know, right? GUH.
I can't even remember my thoughts about this movie when I was 6, but I think my friends and I liked Esmerelda and her goat, and tended to ignore everything else...
I saw it again when I was 15, though, and needless to say it was like watching a completely different movie - especially when I noticed that Frollo was the only one whose character was really explored. He's the driving force, and I totally missed that before.
