Description
While Vader had held the ceiling, Ahsoka asked how, why, he had abandoned the Jedi and become a Sith, Vader simply pointed out she too had turned her back on the Jedi Order that she felt had betrayed her. While he, having realised how ineffectual and misdirected the Jedi were, had decided to destroy it to build something more effective. As a result he had already achieved more through the might of the Empire than he could have done through the old Republic and was facing challenges that the Jedi had refused to take action on.

She could see where he was leading on that, it had been a deeply buried point of personal pain for Anakin, having been born as a slave on Tatooine, and while the Republic and its guardians had tolerated such practices for decades to maintain 'peace', within a few years the Empire had largely crushed the practice into the fringes of criminality. She had to admit she had no wish to allow that practice back even if the Empire was brought down.

Agreeing to work together with their combined focus, the two former Jedi's were able to ease the rubble into a more stable position, but this still left them within the half buried catacombs of the Imperial mansion. The machinations of the Moff had unexpectedly allowed them to cease what had seemed a conflict that would have certainly killed one of them. For a fleeting moment for both Ahsoka and Vader, it felt like old times, but the present unavoidably caught up with them.

Now as they talked Ahsoka could sense the rage within Vader, but it was focused, controlled. It was unlike anything she could recall, although the pain of her arm was perhaps dulling her senses. What she was certain of was that his anger was not aimed at her, and there was a myriad of feelings behind the rage. He was concerned for her, she could feel it.

But there were other questions she needed to ask, even if she feared the answers...
