Description Captain Atom is one of those characters who was once very prominent in the DC Universe, but has largely been ignored by DC's current creative direction, which is a pity since his basic plot was pretty solid and would still work today with minimal alteration. As a character he's kind of similar to Marvel Movie Winter Soldier version Captain America but with greater super powers.

Decent, flawed but good hearted, at his core he wanted to be patriotic and wanted to do the right thing, but the lines were blurred and left him conflicted. Being repeatedly manipulated by individuals within the government, Nathaniel struggled to break their hold over him, caused in part by having at various points willingly perpetuated their lies and misinformation about his origins and his role as a government agent.

After revealing the truth - that he had been part of a government designed lie to gain the trust of the American people and his superhuman friends - , he would work tirelessly to regain that trust and live up to the examples set by his fellow meta-humans.

DC version Created by writer Cary Bates and artist Pat Broderick ( writer Greg Weisman also deserves some credit as the series progressed )

Patriotic is not a popular hero character trait for comics writers to use nowadays.

It does tend to seem that way.

Agree with you Adam, the Captain and PeeGee would have been the perfect couple.

With her superpowers, she could have been a danger to normal human males, unless she had a way to suppress her powers temporarily.   postulated a small necklace with Kryptonite that PeeGee could wear when she was with human males so as not to crush them during sexual encounters.

Romantic or just good friends, i think the pair should have worked together more, although it might be a while before that ever happens again in the comics.

Ouch, I hadn't given much thought to that.

"Who dares to summon my name!" = "I am the great and powerful OZ"

"And yes I did futher revised the little Kryptonite jewel idea for my PowerGirl " -- did you ever use it again in a story/render?

Would love to see a wake-up shot of Pee and your character Nathan, her with blanket covering part of her legs with action-tousled sexual-encounter hair, laying on top of him, and he is totally is flat tuckered out on the bed under her. No need for nudity, just two lovers after a busy and loving night!
