" I know- I know your voice. I haven't heard that voice in--" " Nate ? " - Old Karrie, aka Karren, aka Kara, aka Power Girl.

Inspired from a scene in the Justice League Generation Lost comic ( worth looking up if you are a fan of the Justice League International or of a decent Superhero story ) where a time traveling Captain Atom encounters a very aged Power Girl. Unable to die even after hundreds of years, her body and memory have been ravaged by massive amounts of radiation ( Kryptonite and other ). She is seemingly the only superhuman survivor of a war with the OMACS, but in spite of not seeing him for a lifetime she recognises Nathaniel within moments of hearing him speak.

I still think these two could have easily have been involved with each other ( with some very mild nudging ) and i liked that Kara seemed to be the one person Nathaniel kept finding during his two time jumps in the story. It was also nice to see their friendship in the JLI finally referred to and played up after years of writers pretty much ignoring it ( I sometimes get the feeling any reader from the 2000's onward wouldn't have thought Power Girl had ever been a solid part of the Justice League International for several years ).

I tried to make it look as though a shocked Captain Atom is realising that the old Woman is in fact his old teammate and friend, hence the faint image of Power Girl as she normally is behind 'Old Karrie', vibrant and smiling and larger than life.
