Despero was taken aback by the power of his foes, the silver skinned man who has resisted his mental attack was only vaguely familiar, although he clearly recalled the female Kryptonian, and she had become strong.

Nathaniel needed Kara to move away, while she was in combat with the monster his options were limited, any blast that could injure Despero would injure her, and the last time he had counted on her invulnerability saving her in a battle she had nearly died. He needed to fire at the right moment.

Kara refused to stop punching but she wasn't sure what their best course of action was, press on with the assault or retreat and gather help. She decided that if she could end it here, she would. At which point an enraged Despero finally adjusted his flame like form into solid muscle and swung a massive fist.

The blow hurt, causing her to hurtle into Nathaniel and to have his energy blast tear through the roof. As the pair tried to gather their wits, the flames pulled back to show the leering demonic face of Despero.
