It's long bothered me that the Dungeons and Dragons movies that were knocked out over the years never seemed to bother making use of the extensive background material at hand, i suspect a movie based on the crew of the Realms Master and their adventures ( or of the advanced dungeons and dragons comic, or of the classic cartoon, or of any of the books ) would have stood up far better than what was churned out.
