Description
A follow up to my Judge Anderson picture, this time of the current Chief Judge Barbara Hershey.Along with Anderson, Judge Hershey is one of the longest surviving characters in the Judge Dredd comic, she was a young Judge when Dredd first met her and she has risen in the ranks to being the voice that commands him.
In contrast to Anderson, Hershey is stern and steely, being much more along Dredds own lines in character but also much more flexible and capable in dealing with the aspects of the system that Dredd goes out of his way to avoid.
Hershey has also been remarkably moderate ( in so much as a Megacity One Judge could be, which isn't much ) as Chief Judge, surprisingly with Dredds backing, which led to her being voted out of office until the most recent disaster that struck Megacity One forced her to take the role of leadership once more.
I decided to use a 'velvet glove' as a reasonable description to apply to Hershey, still an iron fist, but slightly cushioned and subtle.

Hmm if I remember it right: She became the cheif of judges after the war against the russians who brainwashed the other ex boss they had?
Was ages since I readed the Dredd comics -.-

The now long dead Chief Judge McGruder was the one who came after the brainwashed Chief Judge Griffin, Hershey was still a bit young to be considered for the position at the time.
After McGruder the post was held by Judge Silver who was then followed by McGruder again, and after her it was Judge Volt. Hershey took the position after Volts death. Hershey was later voted out of office by her peers in favour of Judge Fransisco, and after the events of 'Day of Chaos', Hershey is back once more.
