The sonic cannons blast caused Brainiacs body to shatter in several places and carried him clean across the room.

" Error...error...this.. this is but a temporary set..." A second sonic blast tore through his faceplate obliterating half of his head. Humanite paced towards the flailing Brainiac.

" You really should have taken up the battle of wits option, a pleasant mental challenge would have been an interesting game, or you should have simply accepted my refusal in good grace. Unlike you i have no interest in wiping the slate clean on this planet, to do so would obliterate so many of the things i place value on. My goal is to drag mankind upward, not burn the world down and start over ".

A third sonic wave tore through Brainiacs lurching frame. It's eyes shifted back to blue;

" There will be retribution for this... you..will.."

" Will pay ? will be first on the 'list' ? so tedious, I'm sure i will be after this. Hmph, so this body of yours is indeed simply a drone ? I guess i'll have to re-locate before you send an improved model " Humanite aimed his weapon at the remaining part of Brainiacs head, and fired.

" And so we conclude the game you foolishly chose Brainiac "

Humanite gathered the remains of Brainiac swiftly, placing them into a solid container, then began to make preparations to move to another of his hideouts, he was lucky on this occasion, with the element of surprise and Brainiac hubris giving him the advantage, that would not be the case again Humanite was sure. He pondered selling the parts of Brainiac, Luthor would pay handsomely for Alien technology....

Deep within the Earths moon, the Kryptonian computer intelligence Brainiac felt what organic beings would call rage. But immediate retribution for Humanites actions against one of his constructs would have to wait, there were dozens of other concerns to deal with, perhaps he should simply have not explained his intentions to the Ultra Humanite, he had assumed the creature to have the intellect to see the merits of a clean sweep. Brainiac decided to focus his attention on other matters.
