Kara and Atlee sat in the apartment quietly drinking coffee, Maxima had been touring the city so she was currently absent while Nathaniel was with Ralph and Sue making the preparations for their official joining of the Justice League International once more. Now that Atlee's application to the Justice League International had been approved she had been inquisitive about Kara's own early membership.

" I was proud to have been accepted, we had just beaten back the 'Invasion' and the League had been divided into two branches, the American and the European which was given to Nathaniel to lead in respect of his commanding Earths superhumans against the invaders. I confess i was a bit surprised by his initial lack of authority. "

" So when we were being undermined in the eyes of Europe by the 'Queen Bee', i decided to follow my gut and investigate with Ralph and Buddy without telling our team leader. My instinct was right, but it was a setup to make us look bad, and ended with me having a shouting match with a then arrived Nathaniel, in front of Police, reporters and civilians, with him saying maybe i should have blown up the building. Then the building i had just been fighting the Bialya terrorist Jack O'Lantern in..."

" So the building blew up ? " Atlee helpfully chipped in.

" Oooh yeah ". Kara sipped her coffee. " Kind of lucky really, no one got hurt from that, and it stopped our argument escalating, we were both getting pretty worked up and i think we were on the verge of hitting each other, which would have really made us look bad to have a brawl in the middle of Paris " Kara thought about how it could have gone.

" But after that he surprised me, he pretty much trusted me to take the reins of an undercover mission into Bialya with Wally, Rex and Buddy to force 'Queen Bee' into a stalemate of sorts, to show she wasn't untouchable and that if she messed with the League, we'd mess right back "

" Wait, who is Rex and who is Buddy ? I know Wally is the Flash, he's really sweet " Atlee picked up Mr Cat and started fussing him.

" He was also utterly insufferable once, and a near relentless letch. Rex is Metamorpho the Element Man, and Buddy is Animal Man, good guys. Though Buddy has been generally out of the 'hero' thing for a while now. " Kara reached for some biscuits " right, I've reminisced enough for now, what film are we watching tonight ? "

( Such a heated encounter between the pair seems decidedly unlikely in the current New 52 DC Universe, which is a pity )
