Here's four of the design sheets I did for Sideshow, to help the sculpting process along. Just sketches from my sketchbook, nothing fancy.The first one, in the upper left, was done at the Sideshow offices/studios, during a brainstorming session for a bumch of ideas. I produced the rest over the next few months as sculptor Tim Miller went about making three-dimensional fabulosity appear.
I like the doodle of the size comparison between Jennifer Walters and her alter-ego, done mainly to show Tim what I was thinking of when I designed She-Hulks torn street clothes. I think some people draw the Hulk or She-Hulk in torn clothes that look like there's enough fabric to actually cover them, if the outfit wasn't in tatters. I was trying to illustrate to Tim that when Jen tranforms, she goes from something like 5'4" to 6'7". A small women's suit jacket would probably look like a childrens's vest on a gal as big as She-Hulk.
We had some slightly racier rips, tears, and bulges going on, originally. Marvel asked us to tone it down a tad. PRE-DISNEY Marvel.
Truly, we live in an age of wonders.

I'm not sure if anyone notice that, but She Hulk kinda looks like lynda carter on the lower right picture (the one when she is next to her Alter Ego)

You design for She-Hulk is downright sexy. Wish they do an animated short of Jen hulking out due to her schedule and resulting with Shulkie feeling embarrassed like her expression from the comiquette itself. Guess we all love her when she's angry...cause it turns her on. πππππ

She Hulk...hummm...she was one of the coolest Marvel girls. Loved her since the first time I saw her and, Adam...you render her wonderfully.

I'm always amazed at the way you can make a woman being very muscular without making her look like the "freaks" practicing bodybuilding too much.
I've been commission to do a She-hulk and that's difficult to make her muscular AND elegant.
I like too the way you put details on the clothes torning. I thought about that but didn't come with something convincing. You asked some lady to wear children clothes to study that ?

Ah, AH, if only you coulda drawn the "nude jump-rope" issue of Sensational She-Hulk (no offense, Mr. Byrne). But I'm guessing you were probably a teenager at the time. (not obsessive enough to cross-reference the pub. date w/ your D.O.B. - my apologies.)

In fear of sounding horrible, but how is She-Hulk compared to The Hulk? I have never really gotten into Marvel, possibly because they don't exactly sell it at normal places in Sweden, but still. I know a little about Hulk. Nothing about the female version. XD
But I'm assuming she got the same temper issues...?

Adam you never cease to amaze me. Shulkie's one of my favorite characters and you got the clothes rips pretty much spot-on. The size comparison between her two forms was a great touch too.

Amazing work as always! Though I always wondered why she-hulk always went from a normal looking woman, to a female bodybuilder not MUCH bigger than usual--but the Hulk just got enormous.

Well, even though She-Hulk goes from 5'2" to 6'7", there's a couple reasons why there are differences between the Hulk & She-Hulk's transformations, some internal (story-driven) and some external (real-world reasons)...
The Hulk is the result of accidental gamma radiation exposure. She-Hulk was created because she got a blood transfusion from Bruce Banner, the Hulk's alter-ego. So, her gamma dosage/exposure is substantially less... that's the internal reason.
The real-work reason is that the Hulk is a monster, and She-Huk is a sexy babe. No one really wants to see a monstrous She-Hulk, much in the same way that no one wants to see a sexy, handsome Hulk.

Sorry to bug, mr Hughes; I was just wondering if you got any word from the San Diego comic con people, regarding the demonstration that you did on copic markers, that they were supposed to tape. IΒ΄ve been searching on the SDCC web, and on youtube, and couldnΒ΄t find anything.
