Well, get out of the way.
Hahaha... Jokes.
This is why you're one of my heros. That's fantastic! Looking forward to the finished work! Thanks for listing you materials as well. I can never seem to find that process white around here.

you may not be the person to ask really but is there anywhere i can get older versions of Imagine FX?
i want to buy it (but its a bit expensive for me right now) and if i could just get an older copy of one and read through to see if i like it, it'd help me out on my decision
i dont have any local bookstores around here that carry it either is there anywhere i can download a few pages of one? (i've downloaded some of their old tutorials from their site) but i dont know if the magazine is really beneficial to me. :\
any advice or testimonies would be nice

Hi i know this wasnt directed at me but i thought i might be able to help as a subscriber to IFX as well as a member of there forum.
IFX do sell the mag digitally now its a new thing thats just started so they currently only have 1 issue online. UK readers will pay £4.16 for an issue and £36.66 for a subscription. The US Dollar price is $7.99 / $69.99. Note: you do not get a download of the DVD contents, hence the reduced price. it might be the way to check it out. [link] there hoping to do back issues this way
currently you can only get back issues they still have printed vesions of them from here [link] or buy them off ebay which can get pretty pricey over on there.

thanks so much any advice or tips on this is much appreciated
the last time i was in the bookstore i didn't remember to look for Imagine FX and if i buy i'd probably want a subby but you're right, i'm probably better off buying one copy first to read and see if i like it
when i looked on their site they said the subby w/ dvds is a $120 correct? that's where i was like noooo cant afford that. But if the DVDs were really worth it... haha any testimonies on the dvds and their content?

people are discussing the digital verion here [link] you dont have to buy the mag to become a member of the forum so you could always ask for more peoples opinions on the dvd there.
i personally wouldnt miss it, i rarely ever look at the dvd if i'm honest. alot of it is free trials for verious softwere which you can find on the internet anyway and bigger pictures of some of the sections of the magazine. sometimes they have nice brushes and some nice videos, but its not like you cant find those types of things in other places

looks great. hows the martin ink reacting to the copics, and who carries the process white?

AdamHughes In reply to MarioChavez [2011-01-30 22:19:39 +0000 UTC]
The ink sits on top of the COPICS (I use it last if I need ABSOLUTE black, and has no reaction whatsoever with the COPICs.
Any art store carries the process white; it's one of the most common brands. I get mine from my local art store.

lmao, dude there isn't an art store here within 50 miles. unless deer have one set up somewhere in the woods. i'll look for it online, it seems to be a nice bright white.
I use a japanese ink and put the copics over that. no bleeding or smearing. rock solid stuff, just need a stateside alternative in case i can't get what i normally use.
thanks!

Adam, is it issue 71? I'm in that one and was wondering if they're just doing an all around comic book theme for the issue. That'd be cool if you did the cover for my issue!

I love that you're still working in physical media rather than pixels. I have nothing against pixels, I suppose, some fine art has been made with them, but there's something about the process of making physical art that seems more intimate...like getting drunk with friends you haven't seen in a long time.

Looks great and awesome to see the more 'traditional media' approach. What issue of Imagine FX as we are months behind in Australia and don't always get every issue?

Wow, that looks incredible! You draw vinyl look few can. Are all of the white highlights the white of the page showing through, or do you use white ink as well?

If you read the description, you'll see that I listed process white ink, which I used to beef up the highlights.

Oof. Nevermind. Like an idiot, I forgot to read your description first. Process white paint, eh? I shall look into that. So far I've just used white out here and there for highlights. Not the most delicate instrument.
