Description Sketching flowed into this.

It bugs me that the horizon doesn't match the griffin, the lighting isn't consistent, and the referenced background doesn't fit with the imagination-formed griffin, especially the stylized cartoonish wings. I'll note that for next time.

But I just need to draw more! Anything!

I love the colors, and it's so shiny, but not in an ugly way. The shine really makes it seem realistic, and it adds beauty to it. I like the resemblance to a peacock in terms of the colors, and the beak is so sharp and clean! Amazing job!

I love the colors of the griffin. But I feel slighted when I look at it. I want to see more of the griffin, like expand the canvas and do his wings and beyond. It needs to be more airy.

Lovely work! It almost has a renaissance portrait-type quality to it, which is strange but refreshing considering the subject of the image.

Although the background doesn't fit, I do love the peacock 'flavour' of the griffin. And at the time that the sphinx was unburied and still had a nose, peacocks were not uncommon in Egypt (though, possibly, on that side of the river), so it hints at, to me, at least, an exotic trade, perhaps, instead of something simply out of place. So the background might not quite fit, but it's not completely off, either, I don't think.

You capsulized exactly what I was thinking! It seemed like an appropriate exotic trade animal. Also I wanted to juxtapose the hybrid griffin with the hybrid sphinx.

I like it The wings are fabulous pink. As for the horizon line, the excuse I always use with sand is that the dunes cause a discrepancy..

I want one! <3 I love the colors and th shininess...oooh.

The cropping is a bit odd, though; I wish I could see the rest of the wings!

pretty colors, but I have a feeling that the griffin kinda doesn't fit with the rest of the picture, as in the background.
also the statue behind is supposed to have a broken nose, but I think it looks better that way, with its nose on.

I agree, the background doesn't fit.

As for the Sphinx, I was thinking this picture captured a time before the nose broke off. Thanks for pointing that out, though! It's awesome that you live in Egypt!

I thought the nose broke off by the Turks in the Turkish period?

oh well, looks like I need to do some revision on my history skills :V

No I'm sure you're right on the history! To me, this image takes place during ancient Egyptian times.
