Why yes. Yes it was Barry Allen.
I loved in the lead-up to Young Justice (World Without Grown-ups) when Robin, Superboy and Impulse were in the Justice Cave and Impulse saw the poster of the original JLA. Him staring up at Grampa Barry in awe.

People find it weird now, but Flash was HUGE back then. I don't think its an exaggeration to say that, without Barry Allen reviving the superhero genre, we probably wouldn't have Spiderman, the Fantastic Four or the X-men. So many superhero tropes were literally born in Showcase #4.

Totally! Finally someone who gets it.
Yes, Superman and Batman where popular. But Barry breathed new life into DC and inspired a whole new generation of hero's.
He got his powers through an accident, but was still the everyday man that people connected with. And while Wally was the Flash of my generation, I still liked Barry better. Even if his grandson stole my heart from his beginning. Also it was interesting seeing Barry through Bart's eyes.
