Description
Another tutorial, my first that actually deals with drawing skills. I tried to keep this very concise, more pictures than words, so there might not be as much information as should be. Hopefully its still helpful, and I'm always happy to clarify stuff, just let me know.BTW, this tutorial is almost, but not quite, for beginners. It assumes some basic exposure to linear perspective, and is designed to help people get more comfortable with perspective, and find new and better ways to use it.
Edit: Wow, much thanks for the great positive response to this. If I had known this was going to see this much traffic, I would have checked my spelling more carefully.
Edit 2: Wow, a DD... now I REALLY wish I had checked my spelling and grammar.

Nice tutorial ! Easy to understand and to catch the theory. Even if I already knew most part of this tuto, it clarifies my mind about it ! Thanks ! And I can't wait to see your other tutorial
Did you plan to do a perspective tutorial about perspective by chance ?

This is incredibly helpful. I understand one- and two-point perspectives pretty well, but i really enjoy your take, especially the examples.
Thanks a lot, and I'll be looking forward to the curved perspective tut

thank you XD perspective is so difficult to grasp (although the theory is simple, the practise is another matter ><) and I always get so confused รง_รง

This is really...wow. Just really fantastic. I know it's probably a broken record at this point, but perspective is one of those things that is so hard to master, but when you do, gives art so much more substance. I've gone through lots of books and resources resulting in nothing but frustration but this? Quite approachable. I'm looking forward to putting your tips to good use!

You are a freaking GENIUS. Very awesome way to teach this traditionally and in a way that more AVERAGE people can understand. Perspective tutorials tend to complicate things too much. Yours ls like Goldilocks's perspective drawing tutorial, just right :3

One question: if your vanishing points fall outside your frame, or in my case, my drawing page, how do I calculate the grids? Are there any techniques, or do I just eye-ball them? I've been trying to find an answer to this, but so far, I've not found it. Some tutorials say to stick bits of string on your table and use them as guides, but that's a bit awkward for me. So, ideas?

AdamMasterman In reply to I-n-F [2012-08-04 23:35:33 +0000 UTC]
What I do is sketch a frame in the middle of my paper, with plenty of room around it. Then, I can put my points outside the frame without the hassle of putting them off the actual paper (you can kinda see where I've done this above). But, with practice, it will become easier to sketch them in correctly without needing to go all the way out to a vanishing point.
If you are doing a finished piece, and want to plot your points exactly, I would say to tape some extra paper beside your working sheet, plot your points, and then remove the extra sheets when you no longer need them. Way easier than the string trick (which I have tried, and it is indeed a pain in the arse).

This was so awesome that I wanted to create a new folder for in my favorites for it titled "THE MOST AWESOMEST TUTORIAL OF ALL TIME EVER" Haha. Seriously, though, it was very simply put and I am sure that it will be very helpful to me in the future. THANK YOU! Here is your hug
