AdamsWife — Bark Collage

Description I'm fascinated by the different textures and colours of the bark on our Australian trees and can't resist photographing them. But none of the photos are strong enough to stand alone in a place such as dA, so presenting some in a collage seemed to be the answer. Hope you find them interesting. Most would be the bark of Eucalypt trees.

Wood textures are always interesting. Your composition is very clever, how you've fitted each shot together as one piece.

VERY cool. I was out in Kings Park here in Perth not too long ago, and I was also taking textures of bark and all sorts of things. It's really great, especially when you use them as displacement maps with CGI work. Very nice peice here, lots to marvel at ;D

Thank you. Kings Park would be a great place to collect photos of bark.

i thought about taking photos of different barks and woods too and i find it fascinating. but as the first can easily be found but difficult to shoot without macro and manual focus, the other one is difficult to find. it remains one of my projects to be done

Thank you Neece. Being English born, we have been fascinated with Australia's flora and fauna since arriving here. It is so different to anything we knew before.

Thank you Jenny.
There are many collages I see that I don't like either, but for something such as tree bark that could be boring adding each one seperate, or for telling a story. for examle... the life of a flower from bud to death, then I think that a collage is the way to go.

Thank you. Yes, I thought this was the best way to present several tree bark photos. Although I find bark fascinating, adding just one at a time could be pretty boring for those of my dA friends who are not interested in all things nature. Thank you so much Rettie for adding it to your favourites.

I love this shot. Indeed you do have wonderful trees with some very interesting bark. I have to disagree with you on one thing. I think some of these would look wonderful on their own as they have so much beauty to them. Either way they are wonderful

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AdamsWife In reply to shuk [2006-04-07 11:25:45 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for your lovely comment. Yes, personally I like the bark pictures singly too, but I didn't think there would be that much interest with many people on dA. I used to watch one man and he was always entering close ups of rusty fences and peeling paint and I feel there are only so many of those sort of things you can look at before getting bored. I thought it might be the same with the bark. Thank you so much for adding it to your favourites.

Thank you elly. These weren't taken with the new camera though, but with my pentax film camera over a period of time.

I haven't been anywhere but the garden with the new camera so far. I think you may be seeing more insect photos in future. I've found a couple of nice spiders that I'm keeping an eye on.

Very interesting
Nices pics by themselves and the collage is really well made

But I think that the top right photo should have been cropped more thightly to eleminate the background leaves and to keep the harmony of the whole
