To fully comprehend the reference this con sketch makes, first you must check out this gleefully messed-up Jpop music video: [link]Anyhoo, courtesy of *Zubby 's cellphone camera, here's a sketch I did at FanExpo Toronto this year for ace photographer Paul Hillier, who earlier last summer shot some truly astounding cosplay of my character Empowered*: [link] He wanted an illo of my version of the Dirty Pair, and I knew that he was aware of the insanity of "Pon Pon Pon," so I decided to merge the two concepts in one sketch.
Other than the way Kei's hairline gets a bit wonky in the upper right corner, I thought the illo worked out pretty well. Medium: Sharpie and HB-lead pencil on 11" X 14" Bristol board.

Your work on Dirty pair is what really introduced me into this style of artwork, I have to say that those comics are what really influenced me when I was in high school. it's great to see these characters again after so much time. I wish I still had the comics now, lol

But can Kei fart rainbows like K.P.P. does at one point in the video? And a message for the director of that video: MICROgrams, not milligrams! Whatever the director was on, he/she obviously overdosed. Yes, even factoring in that it's from Japan, that video is completely bonkers and that song . . . gotta agree with Yuri!
Love your dashed-off DP sketch--been a fan of your version of DP since Clinton was president. And if Kei and Yuri ever imitate another Japanese artist, how about the horror-punk band Balzac? (skele-bones coveralls, a megaphone, occasional forays into digital hardcore, and Hirosuke's thickly accented English) Nice work with this DP tribute to some of the weirdest J-pop I've ever heard.
